Shopify vs WordPress Sales Experience. Which One Works Better for You?

Shopify generally makes it easier to earn money than WordPress because it is already optimized for selling with faster store setup, smoother checkout, better mobile experience, and simpler ad integration, which helps beginners test products, attract buyers, and convert traffic into sales more quickly, while WordPress can work well for long term SEO driven income but usually requires more technical setup, plugins, and optimization before consistent sales can happen.


What has been your experience with both platforms in terms of conversion rates and overall ease of generating consistent sale

for longterm SEO id probably go with wp, but shopify is amazing, what i like about it is the fact that its so easy to setup and you can begin very quickly, im speaking from a dropshipping pov, for example i ran a dropshipping store targeting sweden, and i wasnt expecting much because the product was oversaturated tbh but i was just giving it a shot, anyways i ran the tiktok ads, and i got so many orders i never thought that it would be so good, and every single one of them were paying with klarna bnpl and klarna monthly payments, and it was super easy to setup, getting paid is easy, everything is optimised, the plugins are easy to use. For ecom i dont think there is a better platform in my opinion

Please if I may ask, for how long have you been running it and what are your ups and downs?

I have used both Shopify is definitely easier when the goal is to launch fast and start selling quickly

WordPress gives more control and can be great for SEO but it usually takes more work to get everything optimized

For me Shopify was better for quick sales, while WordPress worked better for long term organic traffic

this is old, apprx 3 years ago thats the last time i ran dropshipping, but its defo not as easy as most people say, some stores, i had amazing products, amazing ads, and everything was good, but i still didnt get any sales or minimal sales because there wasnt enough trust factor with the visitor on the webshop, so alot of stores i launched failed specially in the beginning when i didnt know anything and i just knew how to run ads, it is also really hard to keep a steady number of sales, one day youll have a bunch of sales, the other day no sales, and its a lot of up and down in the sales numbers aspect, but if you have a thick enough skull and you dont give up, it usually takes a couple of failed stores until you find a winning product, build a winning store, make everything look good and start getting orders.

Also that said store it was a summer, and it was a summer product, so i think i got good orders for about 1 and a half month and then it died off kind of

Also dont just go with tiktok ads because everyone says its the best, try meta ads, try google ads, depending on your niche it can be better, so test, fail, repeat, until the fail becomes succeed

Shopify easier for beginners, got sales faster, conversion ~3%. WordPress harder setup, conversion lower ~1.5-2%. Shopify wins for quick consistent sales

Heard from many people that shopify converts better. Also with wordpress you need to know what your doing as the site can bloat fast and turn into a slow bag of shit.
