Hey,

My channel got a policy strike recently and since then my videos are barely getting recommended to new viewers.
Is this normal after a strike or does it recover over time?

Yes, it is standard algorithmic suppression. YouTube puts your impressions on ice during a live strike. Do not delete the flagged video as it wipes the data signal permanently. Instead, keep a strict upload schedule using totally safe content, and use your community tab daily to force interaction from your current subscribers until the 90 day penalty period clears.

It sucks but your channel is in algorithmic jail for now. Don't let your channel go completely cold though. Shift your focus to short form clips or shorts immediately because the recommendation engine for short vertical content bypasses the main channel trust score penalty. Upload twice a day to force new velocity until your main strike expires. goodluck bro

From what i've seen, it can take some time to recover, but if your new videos perform well the recommendations usually start coming back.

How long ago did you get the strike, and was it a Community Guidelines strike or a copyright strike?

according to my knowledge a lot of creators say their impressions dropped right after a strike, but it's hard to tell whether YouTube actually reduces recommendations or if it's just the channel losing momentum during that period.

That’s quite common. In the wake of a YouTube strike, the site will sometimes limit your ability to distribute content for a while even if the content is OK since the channel’s trust score gets lowered.
Eventually, it will return to normal through clean uploading and regular uploads, depending on how severe the situation is, usually a few weeks or months later
