Reddit's Growing Value Seems To Be Going Beyond Advertising

One thing I have been noticing recently is that investors are no longer looking at Reddit as just another social media platform.

A large part of Reddit's value used to be tied to advertising revenue and user growth. However, over the last year, there has been increasing discussion around Reddit's content being used for AI training and data licensing deals.

Many AI companies need access to real discussions, opinions, reviews, and community-generated content. Reddit happens to have one of the largest collections of this type of data on the internet.

This raises an interesting question for marketers and Reddit users.

If Reddit continues generating revenue from both advertising and AI-related partnerships, do you think the platform will become even more important for businesses, brands, and content creators in the coming years?

Personally, I think Reddit's influence is growing far beyond what most people expected a few years ago, especially now that its content is playing a role in both search results and AI systems.

What are your thoughts? Is Reddit becoming one of the most valuable user-generated content platforms on the internet, or is the hype getting ahead of reality?

I think Reddit's biggest asset is not advertising, its the discussions people have been creating for years.

A few years ago when I searched for something on google, I would mostly find blogs and review sites. Now many times I find myself adding reddit to the search because I want to see what real users are saying. I think AI companies noticed the same thing. There is a huge amount of real conversations, experiences, reviews and opinions available there.

For businesses and marketers, I think reddit is becoming harder to ignore. Not because of ads alone, but because discussions on reddit can influence buying decisions long after they were originally posted.

However, reddit's value still depends on the quality of its communities. If the platform becomes overloaded with ai generated content, spam or excessive promotion, then some of that value could disappear. The reason people trust reddit today is because it still feels more authentic than most places on the internet.

i would say Reddit's growing value comes from its communities, discussions and user based knowledge, not just its advertising opportunities.

I totally agree and people go with the "flock". If multiple people are doing the same thing or find the same posts/answers on Reddit useful, Reddit is bound to become one of the best social media to advertise ones' businesses.

Yeah, I think Reddit is getting more important. People still go there for honest opinions, reviews, and recommendations, which is pretty rare these days. The AI stuff is interesting, but even without that, Reddit seems way bigger and more influential than it was a few years ago.

In my opinion, Reddit is growing rapidly and has become a highly promising platform for both marketing and making money. With the right strategy, it can be an excellent source of targeted traffic and long-term opportunities.

Not sure about other countries, but reddit started to impact the consumer brands reputations in India, it can make it or destroy it. The reason is people are trying to find real discussions about the product before making any purchases, as the options are too many, so they want to decide which one to go for. I have seen one perfume brand got almost destroyed by reddit users, discussions and reviews goes viral really fast.

The big plus point is its spam policies, Quora got destroyed by spam.
