We are experiencing a -30% hit in traffic since Friday. Anyone else feel like there is a huge update happening? Since the beginning of June we've been getting good gains but last Friday it's like a continuous downturn.

We are also facing same, noticed around 25% down traffic numbers.

Saw some volatility on my end too starting late Thursday. Mostly on my informational sites, commercial intent seems stable for now. @Unchained did your impressions tank too or is it just clicks? If impressions are steady but clicks dropped, they might have changed the SERP layout in your niche again. Seen that happen a few times this year where they test those massive AI snippets and push organic down. I would check GSC to see if your rankings actually dropped or if the CTR just went to shit.

i havent noticed this but i know someone who said the same thing

What did they say? Can you tell us some more?

When did it start? I am noticing the same. Majority of the hit in traffic that I am getting now is actually from the gains that I got from the beginning of June. At the beginning of June the site got a weird boost in traffic.

Too early to tell, according to GSC, the data is still being collected for Saturday. I will update you in the coming days when the stats come in.
About the SERP layout, I actually have an idea what you are talking about. I have noticed this in the past 2 years with Google's behaviour. It is only my personal observation but I am quite sure that Google does this "algo updates" or SERP layout testing/change during the last month or last few weeks of the quarter. Right before they have to do their quarterly earnings report to their investors. It feels like during this time, they will increase the presence of their own properties in the SERP to hoard as much traffic/earnings/impressions to show that they grew each quarter. It doesn't even matter if the AI Overviews are crap, just as long as Sundar can say that they now get X billions of impressions with AI Overview per month.

They have used these "algo updates" as a way to be sneaky about this and hoard the traffic for themselves so that they have something to show their investors. That is why we get this shuffling which results in the usual down 10 - 25% traffic at the end of each quarter that slowly recovers in the following quarter again.

Havent noticed this. Have you checked what happened via search console? Have you noticed any patterns?

They're testing a new algorithm; after debugging, it should be stable. It wouldn't be the first time.

We've had some fluctuations too. The interesting part is that a lot of sites saw gains earlier in June and then started giving some of it back. That usually happens when google is recalibrating something. I'd wait a week before making major changes. Sometimes these swings reverse just as fast as they appear.

This is probably post-Core update fix. Not a whole, brand new one.

I’d personally give it another week or two before making big changes since reacting during active volatility often makes things worse.

yes. therse seems some update going. my 7 sites out of 11 are seen boost in clicks and impression in GSC.
some parasites/pbn i created 3-4 years ago are seen a come-back and gaining rankings on page 1.
many scribd pages have fallen to page 3 or 4.
my high authority DA/DR sites are ranking. new ones are not yet.
newly created backlinks are showing within 3-4 days, as it were earlier took 8-10 days.
News/magazine related sites of my clients saw a drop in traffic.
Amazon and clickbank sites I created also has traffic drop starting 20th June. Its about 30%. hope it stays there or recovers.
my casino aff sites in asian markets neither show boost nor drop yet. but i will keep an eye for next 15 days. sometimes the results are not quick.

organic traffic noticeably grew on several sites, others show no change. sites with big growth were old and big.

I am sure that this is just a SERP shuffle not an actual algorithm update. before doing anything please check your impressions, rankings and CTR in google search console. I have noticed that the numbers tend to return to normal in 14 days.

I agree with the guys saying it's too early to make major changes. This looks like a typical post-core update tremor or just Google testing new SERP layouts that push organic results further down.
Check your GSC over the next few days: if your impressions are steady but your clicks dropped by 30%, it means your rankings are actually fine, it's just a CTR issue due to layout changes. Ride it out for 10-14 days before touching any content or links

Same here, but i don't even account this anymore. Every few months google does something like this, probably trying to fit ai in some more mechanics
