Some people focus heavily on publishing content while others spend most of their time building relationships through comments and connections, which activity has had the biggest impact on your visibility, authority and lead generation efforts?

I believe a mix of both is optimal. However, if I were to go with only 1 of the 2 I'd focus on networking, just dm people who have something in common with you and invite them over a quick coffee either in person or virtually.

I think content brings reach, but consistent commenting and networking bring more long-term opportunities and leads.

I believe both are important, but consistent commenting on other posts has improved my visibility more than just posting alone.

Best results come from both, content brings visibility and networking builds trust and conversions.

I discovered that when you respond to the same set of people, You do better compared to when you try to connect with everybody. The moment they begin knowing who you are, ur posts are more likely to get traction without the need for followinng the algorithm.
