Hey guys,

I have some Windows desktop traffic from software / download-intent pages in the warez/software niche.

Main GEO is US + Europe, but I also have worldwide traffic.

I used to monetize it with a PPI offer, but that one is gone now.

So I’m wondering what you guys would test with this type of traffic today.

I’m open to:
- utility / software offers
- VPN / antivirus / security
- installer-based flows
- anything else that actually fits this kind of traffic

My first thoughts were VPN, utility/software offers, or installer-based monetization, but I’d like to hear what others would test first.

If you’ve worked with similar traffic, what worked best for you?

Would appreciate any ideas, networks, or offer types worth looking into.

Thanks.

If the traffic is coming from software / download-intent pages, you’re actually in a pretty good position because that audience already expects to install something.

If the PPI offer is gone, I would probably test a few things:

  1. Utility installs (system cleaners, driver updaters, file converters, etc.). These usually convert well with download-intent traffic.
  2. VPN or security software offers. People downloading software are often concerned about privacy or security, so VPNs and antivirus can work well.
  3. Smart installer / bundle flows. If you can wrap the main download with a clean installer flow, you can sometimes monetize multiple offers instead of just one.
  4. Download lockers or content gateways depending on the type of files you provide.
You could also A/B test different GEO monetization since US/EU traffic often performs better with CPA software or security offers.

In general, I’d start by testing utility installs and VPN offers first, since they usually match software traffic the best.

Thanks @Czardesigner
I've come up with the same hypotheses myself. Can you recommend an affiliate network? I only have a few offers available

I will suggest to generate bsod with that quality traffic and sell it to the Indian market

vpn offers are solid for that traffic type but the geo split you mentioned really matters here, like US converts way different than tier 2 europe on most vpn networks i tried running similar download-intent traffic through maxbounty last year and the us payout was almost 3x what i got from the same volume in poland or czech. the bigger thing you might be sleeping on is cleaner installer flows, not just the offer itself, because warez traffic specifically gets hammered by adblockers and antivirus flags during the download step and i lost probably 30-40% of my conversions just from that before i figured out what was happening

Thanks for the advice. I'm actually planning to test some VPN offers

need more context, but as a first thought i'd say utility software offers (best if targeted)
Can you recommend an affiliate network?

Hey, I can help out with that, on a general note i would say that the good PPI nextworks/ companies (or better said, developers) are keeping themselves under the radar(not gone though) , any offer advertised on offerwall is probably underpaying compared to the potential of this vertical, if it's still relevant and you have a decent amount of traffic LMK

That’s actually a solid traffic type you’ve got clear download intent, which is valuable if you match it right.

Intent is everything with this traffic
random lead gen never worked nearly as well for me as offers that felt like a logical next step
