I've been out of SEO game since years ago, need advice on keyword research, guest posts, and overall SEO

I've been out of SEO game since years ago and decided to pursue my career in tech, but recently i've had a lot of free time in late afternoon/evening time, so decided to make a custom data platform and now want to try to get some rankings on it.

First of all, for all of you SEO experts, which keyword tool is still useful nowadays? I remember everybody was just like getting group buy of semrush, is this still worth it? Nowadays I see google promotes AI overview everywhere, is there any keyword tool out there that can predict how much traffic you will be getting outside AI overview? (e.g., a high traffic keyword might not provide so much traffic if the standard AI overview answer takes half of the users' screen, logically speaking, right?)

Secondly, everybody seems to keep promoting guest posts, but outside BHW guest posts, where are you getting them?


And thirdly, where are you getting the reliable metrics when it comes to technical evaluation of your pages for SEO? For example, if my website gets good result when tested at pagespeed.web.dev, is that enough, or do you guys use other platforms to check your site speed and reliability from time to time?

Semrush is still useful but I mostly rely on Search Console data.
Guest posts usually come from outreach or niche connections.
For technical seo PageSpeed Insights and GSC are enough in most cases.

Thanks, yeah for now it looks like search console data is the way to go. How do you outreach? you just contact them by email?
 
seo feels very different now compared to a few years ago. i still use keyword tools for ideas but i spend more time looking at actual search results and search intent. for technical seo, gsc and pagespeed insights cover most of what i need. as for links i would focus more on relevance and quality than chasing large numbers of guest posts.

While tools come with some benefit, avoid using them as your basis for keyword research. Make it a point to always verify the performanc of particular keywords through the search engine. Be extra vigilant when doing technical seo related to user data from GSC.
 
Shiny Object Syndrome is real and a challenge. Probably now more than years ago. Sure, tools work, and of course. if it's easier and they're useful, save time, energy, resources, then use them. For getting back into things, keyword planner is good for estimates, trends, etc. are all still free, and available. Once you get warmed back up and your target is set, then sure, move onto something paid if it shortens your time to revenue generation. Just vet the tools via reviews, and definitely refund them if they don't work. I've had tools via AppSumo and other markets change their actual product I purchased months after purchasing. Don't just settle for something that doesn't do what they promised, and released.

SEO has changed alot over last few years especially with the evolution of AI but what still matters is the "content" . Personally i don't completely rely on any tool. Secondly there are various community platform BWH as well as linkedin. Thirdly , GSC is the most reliable one according to me for technical and to check overall performance of Website
 
SEMRush/ ahrefs are still good tools and if you want buy outside try FB Groups they are mostly cheaper for buying Backlinks as in BHW direct.
 
semrush still work, focus on topical authority, search console and quality outreach.
 
SEO has developed greatly since then. using just keywords won’t cut it anymore; take a look at the SERPs, focus on quality outreach to the right websites, and consider user behaviour information in search Console.

To be frank, many SEO professionals analyze their competitiros backlinks profile and keywprds stratgies to indeofty oppurtunityies.,since most clients provide their competitirs webnite it make the work easiler to them. Tool like Keywords everywhere, answer the public, low-hanging fruit are helpful for keyword discovery.

You're also right that zero-click searches have become much more important since the introduction of AI Overviews and AI-powered search platforms.
Today, website are not only optimized for google its also AI visibility in AI generaested results. Tools, like Ahref and Semrush, can help you find out what queries your website got ranked for or which keywords your website got cited for, but access to the premium version is not available to all standard users.

2. I don't guarantee outside BHW. But you can find many in the BHW marketplace.

3. When it comes to page speed, there are some reliable tools like PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, Pingdom, etc.

AI has change the game , but GSC is still the most reliable sources. Technical SEO and relevance link not just guest post .
 
for technical SEO, pagespeed is a good start, but i wouldn't obsess over getting a perfect score.

1) Ahrefs or Semrush are good SEO/keyword tools. 2) You can analyse your competitors backlinks and get the same from the same websites they get theirs from. 3) You can use PageSpeed Insights to measure your website speed.

I'd still use Ahrefs or semrush for keyword research, but i'd validate opportunitites with google search console once the site is live.

SEO has change but the fundamental haven't quality content technical health and relevant backlink still win.

mostly email, but copy-paste templates are dead. you have to look at their existing content, find a gap, and send a short pitch showing them exactly how your article adds value to their site.
