Did the last google update hit anyone else hard?

Hey all,
Just curious if anyone ese had noticed strange changes since the latest google update.
A few of my pages lost visibility even though i had not changes anything major. Traffic dropped, some keywords disappeared and a few competitors were affected too.
I am trying to figure out whether it is worth making changes right away or just waiting for things to settle.
What has been your experience with recent update? Did you recover and if so then what helped the most?

you are definitely not alone but i have seen a few sites lose traffic without any major changes on their side. Making too many adjustment immediately can make things harder to diagnose. I usually monitor competitors, reviewed affected pages and wait a bit before making changes unless there is an obvious issue.

Just wait it out for now. The May 2026 update is still rolling so any changes you make during this period just make it harder to read what's actually happening.

If you really feel like you need to do something, focus on content relevance first before anything else.

I believe you shouldn't make any change until the "waters" are clear. You are correct though many websites got hit by the update.

Yes, I've seen quite a few sites take a hit after the latest update especially those relying on thin content or aggressive link building.

On the flip side, sites with strong topical authority and quality backlinks seem to be holding up much better.

yeah i have seen similar after recent updates. in most cases it is not instant recovery but things fluctuate for a few weeks. i also noticed pages usually stabilize once google finishes re-evaluating content relevance and overall site trust so it is often better to wait and monitor before making big changes.

i would say Google updates are a reminder to keep improving the website instead of relying on one-time optimization. Regular content updates, a good user experience and a well-organized site seem to help in long run.
