Hey everyone,

Never thought I'd be making a post like this, but life has a way of humbling you.

I was recently laid off from my software engineering job. I've spent years building systems, writing code, leading projects, and honestly thought I'd have enough savings to ride out a rough patch.

Unfortunately, my wife is currently fighting cancer, and between treatments, medications, travel, and regular bills, we've burned through most of our savings much faster than I expected.

At this point, I need to find a way to generate at least $10k/month as quickly as possible. I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm looking for opportunities, ideas, or people who have been in a similar situation and found a way out.

My background is mainly software engineering, backend systems, cloud, automation, AI, and building products. I'm open to freelancing, consulting, agency work, SaaS, lead generation, affiliate marketing, automation services, cold outreach, or honestly anything legitimate that has a realistic chance of producing income in the near term.

I know $10k/month isn't pocket change, which is why I'm asking here instead of pretending everything is fine.

If you've got suggestions, business models that are actually working in 2026, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks for reading.

Are you sending the recruitment companies in your area your most recent CV? Thats your easiest and fastest, and best paying avenue in most cases. Once you get a foot in the door, you can climb.

Yeah, I am doing that. I am 38 years old IT guy, and seems companies are looking for young people rather. And because of my situation, I can only wfh.

Look for partners or freelance opportunities there; you can find suitable work with flexible hours that fit your schedule while you continue to look for a full-time position.
