Banned from a subreddit and not sure why

Hey,
I recently got banned from a subreddit and where i had been posting and commenting regularly.
The message i received did not really explain much so i am not sure what caused it. I do not think i broke any rules but maybe i missed something.
Has anyone here successfully appealed a subreddit ban before? What did you say and did the mods actually respond?
Would like to hear some real experiences.

I would say bans happen due to irrelevant posts, promotional content, rule violations, or participating in ways that the community does not allow.
 
If you have not broken any rules you can send message to the moderators and politely ask for clarification. if they believe you didn't spam or violate any subreddit rules they may decide to unban you.

You can send a dm to the moderators of the subreddit in order to see why you got banned,
 
if you are sure you did nothing wrong send an appeal in a polite and respectful way asking for clarification. Moderators are more likely to respond positively if approached politely and with the assumption that perhaps you've missed something. Even if the appeal does not succeed, at least you'll have a better idea of the situation.

If you have done some promotional work, then chances are you can get banned from the sub, but if nothing major, then you can always appeal for an unban.
 
because subs are not democracies, if mods want, they can just ban you for whatever reason
 
Before appealing, I’d audit your last 10-20 posts/comments in that subreddit and compare them to the sub rules.

A lot of Reddit bans happen from patterns, not one obvious post. Things like repeated links, sounding promotional, commenting only where your niche benefits, or using similar wording across threads can look like self-promo even if you didn’t mean it that way.

If they reply, keep it short and respectful. If they don’t, I’d move on. Some mods reverse bans, but some subs just don’t care.
 
sometimes subreddit have strict rules around self promotion, links or account activity that are not always obvious. if you appeal then keep it polite and ask for clarification rather than arguing. mods are more likely to respond when the message is short and respectful.
 
Just ask what rule was broken and say you'll follow the rules going forward. Usually a short, polite message works best.
 
Check out your upvote/downvote ratio at that site. If you have received some downvotes recently, you will be marked as a disruptive user under Reddit’s crowd control settings, which allows mods to ban you with just a single click, without even going through your posts.
 
as a beginner, i would say bans happen because a post or comment breaks a community rule.
