Not always. sometimes I start with a topic I understand first, then do keyword research after publishing some few post to adjust things.

Yes, keyword research before starting a blog really helps. It gives you a clear idea of what people are actually searching for, so you don’t end up writing content no one is looking for. It also helps you pick the right niche, find low-competition topics, and plan your content better. Without it, you are mostly guessing and that usually slows down growth.

Keywords research helps a lot, especially if you want traffic from search. For personal blogs and passion projects, you can skip it at start and just write naturally. but for niche and affiliate sites it's almost necessary.

Yep, I always poke around keywords before starting a blog. Usually 1–2 long-tail ideas, then I check Google Autocomplete and a quick look at the top results. It helps me know what people actually search for and gives me a rough topic map.

Yes, for most blogs keyword research helps a lot because it shows what people are actually searching for. It’s less necessary for personal journals, opinion blogs, or very creative storytelling sites where you’re not targeting search traffic.

Not always deep keyword research, but at least a basic check.For personal or brand blogs it’s different, but for SEO-focused blogs, skipping it usually slows things down.

I’ve found it helps to be honest about what you want from the blog before stressing over keywords. If I’m writing for fun, I just follow whatever idea keeps me excited. If I’m trying to get eyes on a post, I poke around to see what people actually search for so I’m not shouting into the void. It keeps things a bit more grounded without killing creativity.

I’ve found it way easier to keep my posting schedule on track once I know what people actually look for, kind of like having a map instead of wandering around hoping for the best. Still, if the blog is more of a chill space to jot down thoughts, I just write what I feel like. No harm in mixing both vibes either if that keeps things fun.

Keyword research isn't necessary for every blog If you re writing about personal experiences case studies opinion pieces or community updates it can be optional However if your goal is to gain organic traffic and rank on Google keyword research plays a very important role

If you want your blog posts to actually get eyeballs, poking around Google or using a free tool like Ubersuggest before writing has saved me from shouting into the void more than once. On the flip side, if you're just venting about your cat's latest drama, you can skip all that and just roll with what you feel like.
Of course, keyword research can assist you to ensure you do not end up spending your much time on topics without any demaend. But with a blog that has authority or even one that is based on yur brand, at times I discover topics fst and then validate that with keywords.
I do not think keyword researrch is equally important for all types of blogs. If u r writing a personal blog or creating content to share your own experiences, this is probably less important. But if U want to attract search traffic it is still worth the effort to understand what people are actually searching for.
for monetised blogs i always do keyword reasearch first otherwise you're guessing. only time i skip it is for personal branding content or thought leadership stuff where the goal is authority not traffic volume

I don’t always start with keyword tools first. Sometimes I start with the angle/offer, especially for affiliate or lead gen stuff, then check if there’s search demand and how ugly the SERP is. A keyword with volume but full of big authority sites can be worse than some weird longtail with 20 searches and buyers behind it.
For personal blogs, brand stories, updates, opinion posts etc yeah you can skip it. But if the blog is meant to make money, collect leads, rank parasite pages, whatever... doing zero research is basically gambling. Even 20 mins checking autosuggest, PAA and competitors is better than writing blind.

I usually do a little keyword research before starting, even if it is jst looking at search intent and competition. It does not have to be dep but it helps avoid writing unneccessary content . The only exception I can think of is personal or hobby blogs where I just write first and worry about keywords later.
While traffic will remain my ulttimate target, keyword research remains the initial filtering mechanism since it helps me know what I should write without expending time on the rong content. However, I am no longer doegmatic about adhering to my own rules bcz I will start by choosing a topic before doing keyword research.
