How many plugins are you running on your wordpress blog?

I don't really have a specific number limit. I've seen fast WordPress sites with 30+ plugins and slow ones with fewer than 10. The quality of the plugins usually matters more than the count.

What I try to avoid is having multiple plugins doing similar jobs, outdated plugins that aren't maintained, or plugins that add a lot of scripts and database queries without providing much value. Every few months I review the list and ask myself whether I'd install that plugin again today. If the answer is no, it probably gets removed.

If your site is still performing well, I wouldn't panic about the number. I'd focus more on page speed tests, database performance, and whether each plugin is actually earning its place on the site.

I try to keep it under 25 plugins, i only keep plugins that i need.

I used to hoard plugins like socks in a drawer, and my site crawled like a snail on a lazy day. Trimming the fat and only using stuff that's updated and really needed made the backend way easier to manage. If anything looks abandoned or hasn't seen love since 2024, I swap it out pronto, just to keep gremlins and hackers at bay.

Keep only the extensions you actually use, drop the inactive ones, and pick lighter plugins that are still well maintained. In practice the quality matters way more than the sheer amount.

Yes, too many plugins can slow down your site. Especially if they are heavy, poorly coded, or overlapping in function.

I uninstall anything I haven't used in a while and keep only plugins that provide real value. A lean setup makes updates, troubleshooting, and security much easier.

I don't keep it enabled all the time. I only enable it when needed and disable it later it's currently at round 13.

i dont really count them tbh. one badly coded plugin can cause more problems than 30 lightweight ones.

10-15 plugins for a content site, with custom css as needed.
