Hey everyone,

I am planning to run ads for my website services but confused between CPC and CPM. My main goal is to get sales, not just traffic or views.
I am still new to this and do not want to waste money testing the wrong option. For people who have experience, which one worked better for getting actual customers? Any suggestions would help.

If your goal is sales, most people prefer CPC on google because you pay only pay when someone actually clicks, so intent is usually stronger than CPM.

Honestly, CPC is usually safer for beginners because you can clearly see what traffic is doing and optimize step by step instead of guessing.

For sales, CPC makes more sense to me. A lot of beginners get distracted by high impression numbers, but impressions alone don't mean much if nobody is clicking or buying.

If your ultimate goal is straight sales, stick to CPC or, even better, optimized CPA conversion campaigns.

CPM just charges you for eyeballs and impressions, meaning you can easily burn through your budget without getting a single click. CPC ensures you only pay when someone actually shows real interest in your service.

CPM usually works better later when you already know your audience and want to scale or do retargeting, not when you’re testing for first sales.

CPC is usually the safer option to start with because you’re only paying when someone actually clicks, giving you more control over budget and intent traffic. CPM can work, but it’s better when you already know your audience well, or you’re running awareness/retargeting campaigns.

CPM can sometimes look cheaper at first because you get lots of impressions, but for website services it may burn budget fast if people are only seeing ads and not taking action.

go with CPC bro, CPM is mostly for brand awareness and u might loose money if u want pure sales.

cpc for sales is the default answer and its correct for google search. but on facebook/meta the line is blurrier, the algorithm optimizes for your conversion goal regardless of whether you pay cpm or cpc under the hood

ive run the same offer both ways on meta and cpm ended up cheaper per purchase when the creative was strong enough to convert cold traffic

so the real question is which platform and how good is your creative, not cpc vs cpm by itself

I tested both, and CPM gave me lots of views but almost no purchases. CPC got fewer clicks but much higher conversions.

if your main goal is sales then definitely go with CPC bro. CPM is mostly for brand awareness and big companies with huge budgets who just want views. with CPC u only pay when someone actually clicks and shows interest in your services. also if the platform allows it, try to use conversion-focused bidding (CPA) after u get some initial data. don't waste money on CPM right now.

If your goal is sales, CPC is usually better because you only pay for clicks, while CPM is more for reach and works best when you already know your conversion funnel.

Go with CPC bro because you only pay when someone actually intrested clicks, CPM will just burn your budget on useless impressions.

Yeah @WPGads is right about social. If you are doing FB or TikTok you are paying CPM anyway, you just optimize for conversions.

Most beginners lose money on both because their landing page or offer is weak. I ran a web design campaign last year and spent a grand on Google CPC... got decent clicks but zero sales because my landing page was too slow and confusing.

If you are doing Google Search, go CPC to test your keywords. If you are doing social, use CPM but set the goal to conversions, not link clicks. Just make sure your lander is actually ready to convert before you turn the tap on.

I think CPM works better for awareness or branding. it can bring lots of views, but not always buyers, especially when you are new and testing.

In my experience CPM is better only when you already know your audience well. For beginners it can burn budget fast without real clicks or conversions.

If your ultimate goal is direct sales, you can stick with Cost Per Click (CPC) or, even better, optimized Cost Per Cost (CPA) conversion campaigns for great profits.

Go with CPC, Since your main goal is getting actual sales and you have a limited budget, CPC is much safer because you only pay when someone actually clicks through to your website. CPM charges you just for people looking at the ad, which is great for brand awareness but can waste a lot of money if they don't buy.
