Hi everyone. I'm running a YouTube channel about CR7 winning the 2026 World Cup. The channel is doing well and getting consistent views, but I'm worried YouTube might flag me for copyright infringement if I use videos from TV stations. Is there any solution?

If your content is purely news, information, and analysis revolving around CR7, then there's no problem. Of course, you should focus on football in general, not just CR7, because the audience will be very small.
Regarding image copyright, a small channel like yours won't be affected by copyright strikes or other issues. However, you might not get approved for monetization or your monetization might be disabled for reusing content, and you'll have to appeal, in which case the odds will always be 50/50.

Broadcast footage is often copyrighted and can trigger claims or strikes. The safest option is to use licensed footage, your own content, or strong transformative use (commentary, analysis, editing), but even then there is no guarantee against claims.

using full clips from tv stations is risky as hell, YT is strict with that. Best solution is to use short fair use clips with heavy commentary or just make your own reactions/highlights from public sources

u can try making ur own highlights or use clips with Creative Commons, avoid direct TV stuff, or just add ur own voiceover n edits so YouTube dont flag u.

Would be careful with TV footage tbh, especially if the channel starts getting traction. Some creators seem fine for a while and then suddenly get claims/strikes later. Curious if anyone here found a safer long-term approach for sports content.

My channel currently has 4000 hours of watch time and is in the process of monetization. Everything is going smoothly. Should I develop additional channels to support students and expand interaction on my main channel?

I'm mainly using images for illustration; however, images don't evoke the same emotions in viewers as videos. I'll take your comment into consideration. Thank you.

I've seen plenty of channels use sports footage for years, but the ones that seem to last usually add a lot of editing, commentary, and their own angle instead of just reposting clips.
Out of curiosity, are you getting most of your views from Shorts or long-form videos?

No. You'll get flagged and banned and that'll be it. Game over on youtube lol

Thank you, I received similar advice. I will be careful.
You would delete all your videos then if youw anted to be careful? lol

Sure you won't do that, cause your getting views, so your thinking "yes i've made it soon i'll be rich" instead of thinking of the correct long term picture. Make animated paradoies of footballers, then you can own the charactutures, and the content, and you can happily get monitised.

It might take longer, but I don't know what generation should be learning about a 5 minute content creation process to somwhoe play the numbers game and reach success. Your losing out if you CAN'T produce your own copyright free content. Its not helpful when you don't have to work. You can get dethroend easily, as your using something else in your offering to square the circle.

Best of luck anyway. If you do get banned remember you need a new home router, fresh details, and a new computer and registered business to get going again. So think of that before you say to yourself "nah imma keep these copyright videos!" lol

how much of the footage are you actually using? Big difference between a few clips and entire highlights
