Absolutely. Cheap hosting often works fine at the beginning, but performance can drop sharply as traffic grows. Many site owners eventually upgrade to better hosting, caching, or a CDN to maintain speed and user experience.

I did, around 2008 when I started my online journey. But it's happen with free hosting for me, I got a few dozen visitors in 1 week on my blogger blog (yep, at that time I was using only free stuff cause I've been poor, but also because I didn't know the benefits of investing into your business)...
So anyway, I got a few (60 or so, I don't remember exactly) to my 1-page blogger blog about HoMM (a TBS video game), and my blog stopped being responsive because of "500 resource limit reached" type of error (or 400, I don't remember what the number was but the error was about "resource limit reached" for sure...)
When I contacted the hosting about this they told me that my free account is only good for me to learn to use hosting and if I want to have real hosting I should pay for it. I was very pissed when they've outright told that to my face, but later on I've learned to appreciate the honesty and transparency in business, so I got over it... some years later

Cheap hosting offers very limited resources. As you get more traffic, your resource usage increases.
The lesson that should be learned is that you shouldn't expect much from cheap hosting because you get what you pay for.

At first they offer everything to get the customer. once the site starts getting traffic they know the customer will be remain with them 80% of the time, they start saying upgrade to high bandwidth plan and more ram plan

For me, if the host cheap as well as reliable, the choice definitely goes to such provider. I am quite happy with GTHost vps hosting. The plans start from $4/mo.

Well, its very simple, that many shared hosting providers struggle with providing a good service, even though if they keep a good ratio of client to the server resources it can still be good, but so many of them oversell their resources, which cause bad performance on shared hosting platforms, also if your website needs grow then surely there can be a limit to each shared hosting provider too, even nowadays many people over sell VPS too, so a bare metal is always a best choice, where you at least know that you own the hardware and getting full resources of it.

On the webhosting business, specially on the shared hosting, usually the final costumer is the one to get screwed. Hosting providers usually do virtualization on a bare metal server creating hundreds of shared servers and bottleneck happens more often than people think.
Sometimes it can be your traffic, sometimes it can be other clients traffic which will affect the entire infrastructure including your server, it can be a aatack (ddos, udp flood etc) which will also afect your server and there are other hundred different reasons for this to happen.
Shared hosting it's not recommended for any project which you have at least a minimal interest, have a vps with a dedicated clean ip and go from there.

Honestly half the time its not even the host, its the site. Seen this happen plenty... people throw a bloated wp install with 30 plugins on a $3 plan, get a bit of traffic and blame the server. A lot of those "slow once traffic grew" cases get fixed with basic caching and not loading 4mb of images on every page.
That said @Diplomat is right that cheap hosting is limited, no argument there. But i'd just say before jumping to a vps, check what your actually serving first. Had a client years back convinced he needed dedicated, turned out his db queries were a mess and a bit of optimization carried him fine for another year on shared.
CDN helps too but its not magic if the origin is slow.

Absolutely! A cheap hosting plan can work well when a site is new, but as traffic grows, limited server resources often become a bottleneck. yeah we all went through this phase. those "unlimited" shared plans are a joke, they cap your physical memory or database connections the second you get real traffic. honestly though, you don't need to jump to some expensive managed hosting. just grab a cheap vps from hetzner or vultr, throw a free panel like cloudpanel on it, and set up cloudflare. you can easily handle decent traffic on a tiny setup if your caching is configured right.

Shared hosting has a lot of issues - particularly speed. I still have multiple sites on shared hosting. I host static html sites whenever possible. They usually load within a second. Even on wordpress, I use lightweight themes & plugins, cache content, optimise site for speed. This keeps loading speed within 2-3 seconds which is enough for those sites. Sometimes the sites lag for no reason but it's rare.
It's better to get a VPS as soon as you start seeing results. If the site loads within a second, your conversions and ad revenue will improve a lot.

If the traffic volume is higher, the only thing you need to do is upgrade your hosting plan.
