X (formerly Twitter) just killed DMs

We are running a panel where we were doing millions of DMs per day with thousands of accounts. It was working good but then in the last week Twitter pushed an update and now we can't send more than 8 DMs per day even from web.
Has anyone else experienced that yet?

I really think it's impractical to have that kind of limits on a social media platform.

Let me see if anyone is on the same page as of me.

Is it the same even on aged accounts? What are you promoting via DMs?

Yes we are running all type of accounts, new and old etc.
Our users are promoting different links like OF etc.
But that doesn't matter because I tested on a clean account with plain text messages and I can't send more than 8 new DMs/day.
So, it's not about accounts I guess?

Wouldn’t be surprised if X tightened limits recently tbh. Feels like they’ve been pushing more anti-spam/trust restrictions across different features lately. Curious if others noticed the same drop or if it depends on account age/activity level.

This was on more than 20K accounts we had at a sudden and I tried with separate aged and new accounts as well but same.

Have you tried doing the same with twitter blue accs?
 
They are killing a lot of things as of late, including our ability to run even mild nutra offers through ads.

Not with blues yet.
But blues are expensive and not worth it if they get banned so I don't think we're gonna try that.
 
is it just your accounts that got limited or is it everyone now that is limited to 8 dms? That doesn't sound right, I think you might be rate limited but i dont think it is everyone who is limited to 8DMs. Sound like you got flagged for bot behaviour, and all your accounts are now been watched
 
I think the DM spam era on X is slowly coming to an end.

Can't barely even start a new USA account without getting it banned if you don't go blue within 24 hours. Happened to me twice this week alone.

Interesting point. Feels like X has been changing a lot of things lately, so wouldn’t surprise me if limits got tighter. 8 DMs per day sounds pretty extreme though. Curious if others are seeing the same.

Could be But feels like X sometimes overcorrects and regular users/business activity gets affected too. Curious where people think the balance should be.
 
The algorithm now heavily ties DM limits to account trust scores and X Premium subscriptions. Free, unverified burner accounts with zero organic history are now hard-capped.
 
Many people are noticing stricter DM limits lately X probably increased restrictions to reduce spam and automation especially on accounts sending large message volumes
 
yeah bro x slashed limits heavily for unverified accounts recently, to pass that 8 dm shadow limit u gotta get blue badges or warm them up like crazy with heavy organic scrolling first

I was talking about this with a colleague, Elon is making more money with the blue tick, he wants all active users to go blue.

The official explanation is that they are trying to weed out the scammers. I don't think it's a bad idea but to be honest X ads, which is my bread and butter, needs to not be linked to an X profile. Literally no other platform has such a strong link between the profile and the ad account, and many platforms don't even require a profile to run ads.
