yeah it can work but mixing long form and shorts on the same channel usually messes up your reach. shorts subscribers rarely watch longer videos so your CTR will probably tank. plus if you use other peoples clips you will eventually get hit with reused content when you try to monetize. if you do it make sure to add a voiceover or some heavy editing so youtube doesnt flag it. i would just start a separate channel for the long form stuff.

compiling your own shorts is fine but putting them on the same channel is going to kill your long form reach. the subscribers you get from shorts have zero attention span for a 10 minute video. if you use other peoples stuff you will get hit with reused content sooner or later. if you really want to try it, put them on a new channel and use them to drive traffic to affiliate offers or cpa instead of relying on adsense. monetization is a nightmare for compilation channels nowadays anyway.

Not really you'll not be able to monetize them, it doesn't add any value plus it's useless

Shorts audience and long-form audience don’t always overlap perfectly. Some viewers come for quick content and may not stay for 5 to 10 minute compilations, so retention can be lower at first.

Audience Mismatch: Shorts subscribers have a completely different attention span. If YouTube pushes your 10-minute compilation to your Shorts audience, they will click off immediately. Your CTR and AVD (Average View Duration) will tank, and the algorithm will bury the video.
Monetization Risk: If you compile other people's Shorts without heavy transformative editing (like adding your own voiceover or reaction), YouTube's AI will instantly flag it as Reused Content when you apply for monetization.
Keep your Shorts channel focused on Shorts. If you want to do long-form compilations, start a separate channel and optimize it purely for search traffic.

yyes, in principle you can upload both long and short videos to the same YouTube channel, and many creators do so now. however, the important issue isn't the video length, but rather the rights to use the content and the added value you create :anyway:
