Google May Core Update: What changes are you seeing?

Seeing the same wave pattern here. Info pages with older backlinks are mostly holding, but thin category pages and “money” pages are jumping around like crazy... one client had commercial terms drop 20-30 spots for 48 hours then come back half way. Feels less like a clean penalty and more like Google testing different intent mixes again. I’d watch impressions by page type, not just positions, cause some SERPs are getting reshuffled with more forums/UGC blocks too.

Recently I’ve been watching the impact of Google’s May Core Update, and the volatility seems quite noticeable this time, with very different behavior across sites.

Just as a quick context, after the big fluctuations in March, a lot of SERPs were already in a phase of reshuffling, so this May update feels more like a continuation of adjustments rather than a completely separate shift.

What I’m more interested in is what others are actually observing in practice—whether rankings are moving across the board or only specific keywords are shifting, and whether the changes are gradual or more sudden jumps.

It would also be interesting to see if different page types are behaving differently, like content pages vs commercial pages vs category pages.

Overall it still feels like the system is in a tuning phase without a very stable pattern yet.

What are you seeing on your side?
nothing much happened to my sites, to be honest.

I’m seeing something similar. Some keywords are moving quite a bit, while others are staying pretty stable. On a few sites the changes were quick, but on others it's been a slow process.

From what I've noticed, content pages seem to be moving more than category or commercial pages. It still feels like Google is making adjustments and things haven't fully settled yet.

Right now I'm focusing more on traffic and clicks than daily ranking changes. To me, this update feels more like a continuation of the March shake-up rather than a completely separate update.
