Hey everyone,

I recently started using LinkedIn more seriously, but as a beginner with almost no connections, it feels hard to get any reach or engagement.

I have been posting a few times, but most posts barely get any views or interactions.

I am trying to understand:
Is it better to focus on posting content, or should I first work on building connections?

Also, what kind of posts actually work well in the beginning, personal stories, tips, or something else?

tbh posting to an empty feed is just going to burn you out. you need to build the network first but don't just spam connection requests. find big creators in your niche and be the first to leave actually good comments on their posts. that borrows their reach and people will naturally click your profile and connect. once you hit like 500 decent connections then you can start dropping your own posts, mostly actionable tips or small personal wins work best right now without looking too cringe.

Also, try connecting to as much friends as possible as that will trickle down to the pages itself

You need to start by building connections first, especially in your niche, because without that your posts won’t get much reach. Then stay consistent with simple value posts or relatable experiences, those usually get more engagement early on.

Don’t overthink it, just stay active & interact with others daily.

Okay bestie, for real, it's totally a combo of both! You gotta drop some engaging posts like quick tips or even just asking questions to get people talking, and spend time commenting on other people's stuff and making real connections, that's how you actually get noticed.

You should actively engage with others and build connections with them. Once you have a solid network, sharing high-quality and valuable content will attract attention from those around you, and your profile will gain more followers.

Hey bro, starting on linkedin without connections is tough but not impossible, you just need to change your strategy, the first thing you have to do is optimize your profile as if it were your most important business page, use a professional photo, a headline that goes beyond your job title and highlights who you help, and a summary that tells your story, linkedin gives you a little initial boost to complete profiles, so don't skimp on that, also, activate creator mode, which gives you extra tools to grow without relying on an existing network.

The trick that works best when you're starting from scratch is to comment on posts from influencers in your industry, don't leave generic comments like good post, but add real value, expand on the idea, ask an insightful question, or share your experience, when you do this, your comments are visible to that person's followers, and many will visit your profile out of curiosity, if your profile is well optimized, you'll start receiving connection requests without having sent any.

Beginners usually gain reach faster by building relevant connections first, then posting helpful or relatable content while engaging through meaningful comments.

Beginners grow faster by combining consistent value-driven posts with active commenting and networking, since engagement and relationships help boost early reach more than posting alone.

That's where the comment section comes in. Follow high-value accounts, and posts valuable comments in their posts in the first 30 minutes after a new post lands, it will help you gain visibility, and optimize your profile so it positions you as a subject matter expert from a glance.

For beginners, personal stories and simple insights work best. You don’t need viral content just share what you’re learning or your experience. At the same time, keep building your network so your posts have an audience to reach.

I'd lean towards building your network first. imagine pushing code to a repo nobody's cloned yet, feels kinda pointless right? same with posting. once you've got a few folks in your corner, then start dropping value. personal stories are good, but make sure they tie into a lesson or insight. tips are solid too, but keep them actionable and not just generic advice.
