Hello BHW!

Recently I did marketing on reddit for a client. my goal was to get the brand listed in Reddit search answers and run guerrilla marketing through relevant subs. Results over 2 months:
  • 105k organic views through dedicated subs
  • Brand appearing for 2 keywords in Reddit search — one of 5 companies mentioned on both
  • 54 comments, 10 posts
  • Quora — 10k views as a bonus

I have my own strategy that consist of 4 steps – broad requests, competitors, your brand keywords and your own content. Now I see that REddit become more and more valuable for SEO and LLM and a lot of business mowing into native reddit marekting. Why is Reddit a long-term play? Because comments, posts, upvotes that gets engagement keeps showing in reddit search for months or even years. You still need to continue creating content, but what you've already posted stays on reddit forever. It can be found by a user or can be shown to them at any moment. The only thing you need is to be as native as possible. And that's the hardest part ;)

Reddit marketing works for any business — online or offline. People search Reddit for bars, restaurants, hotels, dog food brands, crypto exchanges — literally everything. Your business can be right there at the right moment.

Great case study, and you absolutely nailed the point about LLMs. ChatGPT and Perplexity are basically using Reddit as their primary truth engine right now. If a brand isn't indexing in relevant subreddits, they are going to disappear from AI search summaries completely in a year or two.

You mentioned that being "native" is the hardest part. Coming from the media buying and account infrastructure side, I'd add that being native isn't just about the copy you write—it's about the digital footprint of the accounts.

You are right about digital footprint, I try to use only my own rised accounts. Reddit is long term, much better to have 5-10 real accounts with a lot of karma, posts in relative subs and comments with engage. Good account – half of the deal

Nice case study. I agree that Reddit has become much more valuable, not only for SEO but also because many people now add "Reddit" to their searches when looking for genuine recommendations. The point about staying native is probably the most important part—users can quickly spot promotional content if it doesn't fit the community. The fact that your posts and comments continue generating visibility months later makes Reddit different from many other traffic sources. It would be interesting to know which industries responded best to your strategy and whether certain subreddits converted better than others. Great insights, thanks for sharing.

Reddit search has been useless/broken since forever and it feels like they give zero shits about fixing it.

100% agreed. "Good account = half the deal" is the golden rule for any restricted platform right now.

When you spend months aging and building genuine karma on 5-10 accounts, they stop being just social profiles and become highly valuable digital assets. The operational challenge then shifts entirely from "how to get karma" to "how to protect the asset."

The reason this works long term is that Reddit threads become persistent SERP assets, especially when they match queries like "best X", "X alternative", or "is X legit"

Depends on the niche! This job could be done for a lot of business, even offline. Offline is even better, less competition. Bars, shops, cosmetolody, hair, cleaning, driving schools!! But online business MORE often on reddit. A lot of crypto ads, casino for sure, AIs, B2B SAAS, and etc

Yes, good account with karma are counts!!! also age and queality of your posts/comments. And also SUBS where you are "working"

Reddit is getting even stricter about curbing bot spam and upvotes. I've noticed they're starting to display different upvote counts to different users based on geography.

In my opinion, Reddit is still well worth investing time and effort into. However, maintaining stable accounts remains one of the biggest challenges.

True Reddit really helps when it comes to SEO searches and stays for years. Do you have any little guide on how you were able to stay without getting banned while promoting?

For sure, I think now you need to have a few account, where only real talk comments and posts for specific niche

Digital hygiene and very targeted commenting. As I mentioned above, I only use a few accounts and practice digital hygiene. The fewer accounts you have, the easier it is.

I did everything myself! First, I familiarized myself with the product I was promoting. Then I asked the client for a cusdev so they could share their understanding of THEIR audience with me.

Then I created test posts and comments; the client reviewed them and provided feedback. Over time, I was able to create content that was fully relevant to the subreddits and demonstrated a clear understanding of the topic. AI can’t do this—first, you have to understand it from the inside: WHAT you’re promoting and HOW.

Hello BHW, today want to share more about my Reddit promotion strategy. Lets start from the question, why Riddeo is important for brands? Reddit is one of the top-3 sources where AI systems go for answers. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude – all of them going to reddit firstly. Get your brand into Reddit and you get into AI search results.

Also, Reddit has it own AI search, and to be there also a good point for your business. There are cases where there is more negative content about you on Reddit; in such situations, Reddit AI will generate negative responses. However, even in these cases, you can still work to improve your search results and your brand’s reputation on Reddit.

My strategy:
First, focus on existing active queries. These are posts or comments where users ask about a product similar to yours or discuss topics where you could naturally promote your product. Find queriesthat your audience using to search for information and leave comments on. This way, you’ll secure a spot in existing search results with your content. For example, let’s say your product is backlinks. Go to an SEO subreddit and join the threads where people are discussing domains and related topics. You can easily find posts and comments where you can engage with users and naturally mention your product.

Second, engage with posts and comments that mention your brand. This is different from the first point. Why? Because here we’re specifically looking for subreddits and comments where your brand has been mentioned. This is done specifically to manage both negative and positive reputation. If there are posts or comments where your brand is in a negative light, go there and natural way show the product is good. If people are saying good things about your brand, confirm it! You can never have too many comments.

Third, posts that mention your competitors. Find posts where users mention your competitors, and start mentioning your brand there while actively engaging with users. These are people who are ALREADY using a product in your niche. Just show them an alternative.

Fourth, create your own content. As soon as you start consistently following the first three steps, you need to start creating your own content about your brand.
Screenshots from the platform, user stories, or simply organic mentions in posts—all of this works. And the better and more organic your product promotion is, the more reach it will get.

SO, work with EXISTING posts. Engage where your brand is ALREADY mentioned. Create your own content to expand your reach.
