Which backlink type is giving you results lately - niche edits or guest posts?

Right now, I'm seeing good results from niche edits on relevant, authority sites.
Guest post still work, but they take more effort to get approved.
The key is relevance and quality, no matter which type you use.

Guest posts are mostly about trust. Very little power.

Niche edits usually carry trust and power.

Unfortunately overdoing niche edits can trigger a flag.
Never crossed my mind Niche edits had power like this, thanks, new strategy on the way.

Guest posts personally but that depends on the business. For Finance and investment stuff, yes, definitely guest posts.

Guest posts have been better for me. They’re usually on fresh pages with real content and traffic, so the links feel more natural. Niche edits can work too but a lot of them are on old pages that already have too many links, so the impact isn’t always the same.

I’d choose based on the page you need to rank, not the label on the link.

Niche edits usually work best when the existing article already has traffic, rankings, topical relevance and a clean outbound link profile. You’re adding context to a page Google already understands, so the link can settle faster. The risk is that many sellers force links into thin or irrelevant articles, or use sites with decent DR but dead traffic and obvious paid link patterns.

Guest posts are better when you need a new angle, a specific topic cluster, or control over the surrounding copy. They are also useful for newer campaigns where you want to build topical signals around a page. The risk is mass guest post farms where every article is written for buyers and nothing has real readership.

My quick filter is: topical relevance first, traffic quality second, editorial standards third, metrics fourth. A 10k traffic niche site can beat a 100k traffic general site if the audience and article intent match.

At Millenio, and with any decent manual vendor or in house process, the decision should come after checking the actual page, not just the domain metrics.

what flag how?
Inserting link into existing page is different then publishing a new one.

It shows manipulation, control and possibly paid placement.

I have run into problem before when overdoing niche edits, possibly for this very reason.

so its okay to do it sometimes but for the most part ask for new listicles/promos correct?

I think edu guest posts will works more for you.
Even though its for a saas? does google look at edu and thinks it has to be educational lol or am I good to just make those? Are they more expensive, do they carry significantly more DR?

Depends heavily on the site's authority and relevance, obviously. i'd say the quality of the placement matters more than the link itself. i tried a few through a marketplace i won't name, and the outreach was pretty terrible, like, really low-effort stuff. you get what you pay for

@faddy1000 edu links for a saas is kinda bait unless you have a legit reason for them to link to you, like a student discount page or some free calculator tool. google isn't stupid, if a random university resource page links to a b2b saas tool out of nowhere it looks sketchy as hell. i tried the scholarship method back in 2021 and got a bunch of edus, but most faded or got cleaned up by the webmasters after a year anyway.

honestly most "niche edits" you buy from the major marketplaces are just hacked sites or bloated networks. if you can find someone who actually does manual outreach and gets you inserted into a post that already gets real organic traffic, those hit way harder than any guest post. otherwise just stick to guest posts on actual active sites. costs more but you sleep better at night.

Lately I have seen better results from niche edits on relevant aged pages with existing traffic Guest posts still work well too but relevance and site quality matter much more than the backlink type itself

For a new site I wouldn’t set it like “x per week” too strict. If it has no authority/traffic yet, 1-2 decent guest posts a month and maybe a niche edit here and there is enough imo. Bigger issue is anchors and relevance... people burn sites by doing 10 links with money anchors before the site even has content depth.

Niche edits can move stuff quicker, yeah, but I’d only use them on pages that actually have traffic or at least some real history. Random “aged page” with 300 outbound links is just rented trash most of the time.
