Are faceless YouTube channels still profitable in 2026?

I find that high-quality anonymous YouTube videos still attract users. Focusing on content and themes is always well-received. However, uncreative AI videos are struggling.

I still see a lot of people starting faceless channels, especially with AI tools becoming more common now.

For anyone actively running them, are they still profitable long term or getting harder to scale these days?
They are hard to scale but once you have an audience they can be very profitable.

I have one been had it now for about 5 years only making about $520 bucks per month.

Still profitable but way more competitive now
simple ai slideshow channels are getting squeezed hard

The ones doing well usually have strong scripting and real retention focus not just automation

Yes, faceless channels will still be profitable in 2026, but with one important condition, youTube isn't killing them, but now it demands they have soul, the platform no longer talks about repetitive content, but rather inauthentic content, if you just take generic scripts, add a robotic voice, and accompany it with uninspired visuals, that channel will disappear, the key to profitability today is choosing a well-paying niche, for example, finance channels earn much more than gaming channels, the most important thing is to put heart into the content, channels that are making money use human sounding voices, build a consistent visual brand, and write scripts that hook viewers from the first second, the algorithm rewards retention, not the quantity of low-quality videos.

There are examples of faceless channels that are making a lot of money in crime, history, science, and even tours of strange houses, the trick is to treat the channel like a real media outlet, not like a money making machine, if you put effort into the research and editing, there's still a lot to cover.

I think they're still profitable, but definitely more competitive than they were a few years ago. The low-effort AI channels seem to struggle now because there's so much of that content. The faceless channels that are doing well usually have a clear niche, good storytelling, or bring something unique instead of just relying on AI to generate everything.
