Hey everyone,

About a month ago I changed my blog theme to improve design and speed. Everything looked fine at first, but slowly traffic started dropping. Now I am down almost 60% from what I was getting before.
I checked rankings and some keywords dropped slightly, but not enough to explain such a big traffic loss. Starting to wonder if something broke during the redesign.

Check your robots.txt, sitemap, and Search Console errors. Sometimes small technical issues after a theme update can cause big traffic drops.
 
If the new theme is faster, that is good, make sure it did not remove improtant content or change your URL structure. small changes can affect SEO more than expected.

Something similar happened to me after i changed my theme. It was not the issue with the design. rathar, a couple of little SEO components got altered. things such as meta tags, schema, image optimization nd internal linking could be checked out, maybe there were some pages which got sllower in loading.

A speed improvement can still come with SEO problems if the new theme changes the site structure. I would compare important pages before and after the switch.
 
Common issue. Broken schema, slow mobile load or messed up internal links are usual culprits.

I think because you've changed the theme, your internal linking broke, therefore your traffic dropped.
