I've at one time grown a hairstyle website traffic on Pinterest. That's the only beauty niche I've worked with on the platform. But generally, beauty niche is good on Pinterest, you just need to know what you're targeting.

As much time would be spent on the visuals as the SEO bcz in the beauty industry consumers tend to make their decision to click depending on the image presentted first. With both the images nd keywords working together, there is more likeliihood of success than with keywords alone.

one thing i will suggest is looking at seasonal trends in the beauty niche. summer skincare or holiday makeup or winter hair care topics r some that tend to take off at different times of the year. publishing those pins a few weeks ahead of the seasson starting can make a bigger difference than posting them when the trend is already in full swiing.

I tried doing SEO on Pinterest in the sportswear niche, but it didn't produce great results. I think Pinterest isn't as easy to use for finding customers as it used to be.

I think you can target more widely than that. People into makeup love feeling like they're using the same tools as professionals. Brushes need to be replaced periodically but not so often that you just buy the same thing over and over like toilet paper, so buyers are open to new brands or types. You can also convince buyers that spending a little more is worth it if you highlight the benefits enough over buying the cheapest set on amazon (unless that's what you're slinging).
