What makes selling a subreddit so hard?

i think it is also because majority of subs are overpriced

It's easy to sell
Even if not it's easy to monetize or sell paid posts

Because trust, ownership verification, Reddit rules, and scam risks make subreddit sales difficult and unreliable.

Most buyers are cautious because buying and selling subreddits can violate Reddit's policies, creating a risk of losing the community altogether.

Anything which is valuable will always have buyers recently i have come across someone quoted 10x price for a sub so if you quote your price correctly you will have good offers

what do you think is a good visits/members to price ratio?

I don’t think it’s due to an oversupply. Instead, it’s more likely the result of Reddit’s strict policies. Many people are reluctant to invest in buying subreddits because they’re not confident they’ll be able to generate a profit from them.

There is a high demand and high supply, so getting your price right and finding the right buyers is the real issue.

GEO is very important ,An adult /crypto/diet/weight loss sub from 1st world members can bring you fortune ,Personally i would buy such sub for a competitive price .

Depends on the 1)Niche 2) Quality of the sub(whether most posts flooded with fake bot posts <AI Adult posts < OF Girls < Real girls with picture/video verification ) 3) weekly members 4)Engagement so blindly cant say a price for number of members but considering the majority of traffic from the US i would say you can sell it for $200-250 but if i were you i would make a deal with some OG Agency or OG girls and sell the pinned post /sidebar and add a featured banner in the sidebar & link to model's profile work on conversion basis or charge monthly

Thank you so much for the information

Because you don't really own a subreddit.

The Reddit mods can take it over, give it to someone else, or even add other admins/mods at their discretion.

I think you are not targeting the high demand niches or not warming up the subreddits properly before selling.

Of all the digital items/accounts I have sold. Subreddits seem to be the hardest to offload.
Is it a lack of demand or is there just a lot of supply?
I think it is a demandful matter. There are thousands of members in subreddit. But if you do not have a profitable thing, the buyers will not see much value.Another thing is reddit can remove or ban communities,so that there is risk for people to buy from this.
