I am still learning how reddit works. Today my question is for those who have built established accounts, what was the most effective way to gain karma and become active in communities?

Simple.
Just being normal.

1) Only posting comments first
2) Only posting in groups that I knew I could add value.

I usually engage through comments to build karma, which helps make the account appear more credible over time.

I believe good comments in active threads are the easiest way to build karma and visibility early.

If ur account is new don’t comment randomly. First read the post carefully then comment if you understand. This is how you can start

Once you start posting, the wayback machine helps. Find some old high karma post that hasn't been reposted this month, remove the meta data and watch your karma go through the roof.

the easiest way was commenting instead of posting. joined few subreddits i was genuinely interested in and left helpful comments regularly. karma started building naturally. trying to force it usually doesn't work on Reddit.

You discover breaking local news on Twitter . You grab the raw video / image link and post it to that city 's subreddit ( ex : r / Austin or r / London ) before anyone else . Local subreddits have near-zero Automod karma thresholds for link posts, but their active users are hyper-engaged, so a single local post can clear 2k+ karma overnight and instantly whitelist your account across Reddit's sitewide filters.

What helped me early was realizing that comment timing matters more than quality sometimes... being the 5th useful comment often outperformed writing the best comment three hours later

First of all stop trying to farm Karma, If you want to create an established account then first of all act normal, and be active daily just like other platforms. Then start commenting and posting in starting just for engagement nothing promotional or anything.

Actively helping other people by posting good answers on their questions.

as a beginner I believe the best way to grow a Reddit account is to be active, helpful and focus on building trust within the communities you join.

The most effective way to build karma is to consistently contribute useful, genuine comments in active subreddits and share original, relevant posts in niche communities. Focus on adding value rather than chasing upvotes, follow each subreddit rules and engage in real discussions.
