A majority of my traffic is from articles i had written more than a year ago. new material is not getting the same results.

Yes, I noticed the same trend. Older articles often rank better because they have had more time to build authority, backlinks, and search visibility. I usually update and refresh those posts to maintain their performance.

Most of my traffic still comes from articles I published over a year ago. Those posts have had more time to build search rankings, attract backlinks, and gain trust with readers and search engines. New content often takes longer to achieve similar visibility, especially in competitive niches. That's why I focus on updating and improving older high performing articles while continuing to publish new content.

This is common. Older articles have built authority, backlinks and trust over time , while newer pieces are facing more competition. Updating and improving your top performing old articles often brings better results than pushing out lots of new content.

I usually give my golden oldies a facelift by tweaking titles, updating stats, and tossing in some fresh keywords. Google seems to eat that right up and my rankings tend to climb without having to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes I’ll even embed a new video or infographic to make the post feel alive again, which keeps folks on the page longer and helps my bounce rate.

That is quite a normal thing for content websites. Old conttent has already had some time to accumulate all the signals nd establish itself in the results pages where as the new content is still being tried out. What I have obbserved is that there might be much value in updating the old content too.

Same for me old posts win because they have created authority and earned backlinks and signals through time. New posts always require more promotion and updating to catch up..
