The biggest misunderstanding is thinking reddit works like other social media where self-promotion is normal, but here people expect value first, not promotion.

One thing new Reddit users often misunderstand is that Reddit is more about communities than personal profiles. People usually care more about whether your post adds value to the discussion than who you are. That's why reading the rules and culture of each subreddit is so important.

The biggest misunderstanding is that Reddit is just another traffic platform. It’s really a bunch of separate communities with their own norms, and if you show up like a marketer first, it usually dies fast.
People who do better there are the ones who spend time learning the subreddit culture before trying to post anything useful.
