Cold dm limits to non followers?

I'm sending direct dms to people who signaled interest in my service in comments.

It's exclusively people who do not follow me back.

Today my account got some restrictions (unable to send links for "fraud" detected by their algorithms) for 24h.

I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I sent 50dms in the past 24h ?

My account is very aged and I have 2k followers and I post multiple times per week.

Maybe it's because my first dm looks too copy/pasted? It would be strange because it's made up of 6 short sentences and I spintax each of them before sending. They do have a similar word in the first sentence though, but the person's name is always different.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Sending 50 cold DMs in 24 hours is likely what triggered the restriction. Most platforms don’t just look at account age or follower count—they also monitor messaging patterns. If many DMs are similar, sent quickly, or contain links, the system may flag them as spam regardless of personalization. I’d slow down the volume, avoid sending links in the first message, and focus on getting replies before sharing URLs. That usually reduces the risk of automated restrictions.
Yes of course, not sending links. My first dm is as close as what I would send to a friend as possible ("hey name, saw your comment about XYZ, I usually help people solve this, it's actually quite simple, you just curious or want to change things? Happy to share some pointers").

I see wildly different claims online. Some people saying no more than 13 per period of 6 hours, no more than 40 total per day. When I ask LLMs or read blog articles they say 120 per day lol.

Guess I'll make another account and stay under 40 per day. Cheers.

Why would you comment such a cryptic thing? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

50 DMs in a day to people who don't follow you can easily trigger IG's spam filters. The links and similar message format may have contributed too. You should slow down the outreach and make the messages more personal once the restriction is gone.

50 Dms?! that's too much ofc it will get restrictions. you better to decrease it at least to 20 dms per day. also try to not be "predictable" in messaging. always try to use different words there is a chance u won't trigger IG algorithms

If you’re sending like 50 dms in a day that will surely trigger spam checks even on an older account. try to reduce the volume down for a bit and making the opening message feel more conversational rather than the same structure every time. Sometimes it’s not the words but the pattern of sending that gets flagged.

Each account has a maximum they can send out without triggering IG's limits. To maintain 200k dms a day scale (at least for me) I'm using thousands of accounts. Sooner or later the accounts get suspended even though each DM is a different text. In your case you either send out smaller volume or take a break, or pause on the sending out. Ironically, sometimes removing the link in bio helps.

Appreciate it. From my research, anything above 40 dms per day per acc to non followers is impossible.

Time to create more accounts.

I guess it's may be the volume of dms combined with sending links to people who don't follow you. Even if the message are slightly different, platforms can still detect similar patterns and flag them as spam.
