Hello everyone,

I've decided to document my journey building an Online Reputation Management business from the ground up.

Over the past few weeks, I've been studying Google Business Profile reviews, review policies, customer feedback systems, and reputation management strategies. My goal is to build a sustainable ORM business and secure my first long-term clients.

In this thread, I'll share what I'm learning, mistakes I make, results I achieve, and the strategies that work (or don't work).

Current Goal:

  • First 5 paying clients
  • Build a consistent lead generation system
  • Document every milestone publicly

I'll post regular updates and answer any questions along the way.

Thanks for following the journey.

That’s interesting — ORM must have been very different back then compared to now. From your experience, what has changed the most in terms of review impact or strategy?
The main difference now is the ability to do a lot more via tech rather than doing it manually, but the other side is reviews have become a much more important thing, so companies need to sort it

I think you should focus on social media promotion.

ORM is one of those businesses that seems simple on the surface until you actually start talking to clients.

getting the first few clients is usually harder than delivering the work itself because you're selling trust before you have a track record.

looking forward to seeing how you approach lead generation and client acquisition. that's where most service businesses are won or lost.

Good luck with it. One thing I've noticed after working with businesses for years is that reputation management is often easier to sell after you show someone a problem they have but did not know about yet. A lot of local businesses don't realize how many leads they're losing because of unanswered calls or reviews.... Sometimes a check on the online presence of the business to have some useful info for the business owner, so you can start a real conversation.

Getting the first clients is definitely the hardest part. After that, referrals tend to become your best lead source if you deliver quality. Keep us updated on what's working, I am curious how it will go for you.

I agree. Social media is a strong trust signal, but I prefer combining it with SEO, content publishing, and review management. That way you're building visibility across multiple channels rather than relying on a single platform.
Yes, mix of these is ideal for diversification.
