Hi guys!
I’m getting decent traffic on my website through ads and keywords, but the problem is users are leaving within 5–10 seconds. Bounce rate is really high and almost no one is moving to the next page or taking action.

Not sure if it’s:

Keywords bringing the wrong audience
Ad copy creating wrong expectations
Landing page design/content not engaging
Slow loading or bad mobile experience

Anyone faced this? How did you fix it and keep users longer?

Page speed and mobile experience can kill engagement. I ran a GTmetrix, Lighthouse audit, optimized images, and improved loading times, and it made a noticeable difference in session duration and bounce rate.

You can check the connection on different devices to see if it's good. I think the problem is with the content or that it's not targeted at the right audience.

It could be a mix of traffic quality and landing page mismatch. I will start by checking if your ad copy and keywords match what users actually see when they land even small expectation gaps can kill retention fast.

Your landing page isn't engaging or conversion-focused. Please tell us what your industry is so we can provide a more complete description.

A 5-second drop-off usually means either your page loads way too slow on mobile or there's a huge mismatch between what your ad promised and what the page actually shows.

Try looking at user behavior with heatmaps or session recordings. They can show where people stop scrolling, what they click, and where they get confused. That insight helped me improve engagement on several landing pages.

Adding interactive content like videos, checklists, or small quizzes helped me keep people on page instead of bouncing instantly.

I would start by checking your search terms report and mobile experience.
A lot of bounce issues come from attracting visitors with different intent than expected.
Even a few seconds of loading delay can make things worse.

You might be a victim of click fraud. Check your incoming traffic in Google Ads and match it with GA4 to see if the numbers align by country breakdown. If you notice a high volume of foreign, low-engagement users who bounce quickly, it's likely fraud. For defense, I recommend a setup like Cloudflare + ClickGuard.

Most likely your landing page is killing it, looks spammy or not what people expect. Try cleaning it up, make it match the ad better.

So it seems your visitors are not getting what they expect. Could be wrong keywords, misleading ads or your page is not engaging enough. I would experiment with ads, speed up the page, clarify the content, and guide the user to the next step with buttons or links.
