How many ad variations do you run per ad group?

Been running 3 RSAs per ad group for a while now.
Google recommends at least 1 but some people say more is better for testing.
Not sure if having 3 is helping or just splitting impressions in a weird way.
What do you run? 1 RSA or multiple? Does it actually make a difference?
Thanks.

I usually stick to 1 RSA per ad group now tbh.
When I ran 3, it just split data and took longer to get clean signals.
Google’s smart enough to mix assets inside one RSA anyway.
If I test, I’ll rotate ads at ad level instead of stacking RSAs.

If you do run multiple ads, make sure they have distinctly different messaging; otherwise, Google will simply pick one favorite ad and give it 90% of the traffic anyway

This varies greatly. If I’m satisfied with my campaign’s performance, I don’t feel the need to add too many ad groups. But if the results are inconsistent and not what I’m looking for, I can add 4–5 ad groups and run some tests.

I prefer quality over quantity. Google already tests lots of combinations within one RSA, so I only use multiple RSAs when I'm testing completely different messages.

i usually run 2-3 per ad group, more helps test but too many can split impressions and confuse algo sometimes.

I've tested both setups and honestly I get better results with 1 strong RSA per ad group. Multiple RSAs can be useful for testing, but in some accounts it feels like impressions get spread too thin before enough data comes in.

Three rsas per group is fine but google picks winners fast one strong rsa with good assets beats multiple weak ones focus on headlines and descriptions first

Avoid running too many ads in one ad group because each variation needs enough impressions and clicks to generate meaningful performance data.

Usually 3 to 5 well differentiated ad variations per ad group works best, enough for testing but not so many that budget and data get spread too thin.

i run around 5 per ad group and test different variation to measure the ecpm

I usually stick to 1 main RSA, but I will spin up a second one if I am running a specific seasonal sale or a limited time promo. Once the sale is over, I pause the second one and go back to the core ad.
