I have been studying forex trading for about the past several months and my topics of interest include Smart Money Concepts, liquidity sweeps, market structure and risk management. So, my question here would be how many people actually make consistent money through trading as compared to other online businesses.

A majority of people on the internet do one of three things:

* Show off their profits which are false;
* Sell courses that teach people about forex; or
* Simply vanish after a few months of operation.

Hence, I was really curious to get some honest opinion from some of the BHW members here.

Some questions:

1. How much time did it take for you to earn profit?
2. Did you use demo account initially or straight away jumped into live trading?
3. Which strategy is the best for you? (SMC, Price Action, Scalping, Swing Trading, Robots, etc?)
4. In which session do you usually trade? (London, NY, Asian)
5. Is forex worth studying even in 2026 when there are other online income opportunities?

In any case, personally speaking, what matters most is psychology and risk management. A single emotional trade can ruin all your setups for the next week.

I have wasted a lot of time on testing out different forex strategies that all looked so promising until I tried trading them. In the end, it got me nowhere. My advice is to stick to stocks, and possibly crypto if the conditions in that market improve.

When you first start out, everything looks incredibly promising and full of potential; however, it is only when you put things into practice that you can truly grasp what is worth investing in. Invest in what you can clearly see and what is certain.

Making? Nope, but I’ve been consistently losing while day trading lol, especially with leverage.

I quit trying to time the market and now simply DCA in.

I agree, most people focus on strategies, but psychology and risk management are usually what make the difference long term; that’s what most consistently profitable traders seem to emphasize.

Psychology and Risk Management is nothing more than 5-6 ideas. There's really nothing to learn.
You just need a strategy to know what to do if things don't go your way, so you can at least break even.

1. How much time did it take for you to earn profit?
You never know when you're going to get lucky, there are 51% chance to make profit...
2. Did you use demo account initially or straight away jumped into live trading?
Demo is a waste of time. The moment you go live, as soon as you open a position, you'll see you're already at a loss, which doesn't happen on demo.
3. Which strategy is the best for you? (SMC, Price Action, Scalping, Swing Trading, Robots, etc?)
Scalping + News + intuition + liquidity sweeps + support/resistance + round numbers... just the simple things.
4. In which session do you usually trade? (London, NY, Asian)
This is tricky. You'll notice certain patterns appearing during different market sessions, and that's your only real edge. That's why I said you have a 51% chance of winning.
5. Is forex worth studying even in 2026 when there are other online income opportunities?
There isn't much to study... treat it like gambling, but with a slight edge on your side because the news and world events will work in your favor. Making millions from trading? No way! Maybe by selling courses, copy trades, youtube ads .... but definitely not from trading alone.

If you want to earn money with Forex, promote their affiliate links, it will be waaaay more profitable than gambling on this shit

Forex day trading is basicly gambling. You are way betetr off with passive investing or learn how to play Poker. But please stay away from "trading" in financial markets, unless you become an educator or broker/market maker.

trading is more like gambling... predicting the market is impossible, your chance at best is 50%win - 50%lose, since you pay a fee for each trading, the chance of losing money is higher.

It's 50-50 only if you blindly open a position, but the moment you read the news, study session patterns, market structure, and so on, your odds increase to maybe 55%

55% is insanely high. If that were true, you would be the richest man in the world within two years just from compounding profits.

Realistically, the best you can get is probably somewhere between 50.1% and 51%.

I also do not agree that you can predict the market just by reading news. News affects the market, sure, but nobody knows in advance whether the reaction will be positive or negative.
Chart patterns are mostly self fulfilling prophecies. When enough people follow the same pattern, they help push the market in that direction. Even then, the edge is tiny, probably under 1%.

Initially, things often look very promising and attractive, but only when you start working on them do you know what's truly worth investing in. Focus on things that are clear and have a solid foundation.

the only money i ever made in fx was in demo accounts, everything else just feels like a game with secret rules when you go live

I knew what I was doing, but I got tired of it. Then I lost money due to sleep. I rather be smart enough to build code for it which is a whole different level, but then even that requires updating to everchanging markets. Public free and paid bots are untrustworthy, because the only ones that work are unsold and private. This game of lines requires dedicated precision more so than anything else. So with precious time, I personally rather go into trading options. Why? It's more abundant and flexible. I hate scalping, and prefer swing.
