Does anyone here actually make money promoting crypto projects through Reddit?

i run a crypto subreddit and lately I’ve been thinking about turning it into something more serious. Not the obvious spam type stuff, but organic promotions that actually blend into the community naturally.

I keep seeing projects spending crazy money on Twitter influencers while Reddit feels way more underrated if done correctly. Feels like people trust discussions and comments more here.

is anyone here already works with crypto clients, sells promo posts, runs sponsored discussions or something similar. How do you find advertisers without making the subreddit look fake or overcommercialized?

Would genuinely love to hear how people structure deals, pricing, and keep everything looking natural long term.

Most of the audience is English-speaking, mainly from the US and Canada. I do get some traffic from Europe too, but the sub is mostly focused on the US/English crypto audience.

I had more than 10 crypto subreddits. Some had tens of thousands of followers.

Nobody really cares to pay for any promotions; you can count on that.

There are just that many of them, and most of them are free to post with zero rules or moderation.

If they can post for free in subs that have hundreds of K's of subscribers, why would they pay anything to you with a subreddit of 6.5k subscribers?

I know your argument will be that yours would provide value since you cap the spam, but the people doing their promos don't care about that.

You have way too few subscribers. Nobody is going to pay for that; at least you can't turn it into a stable or consistent revenue source.

I sold all my crypto subreddits in batches... someone paid me $8k and $3k +$3k or something like that... don't remember exactly, but they became a burden and were no use.

Second this.

I know one guy who make like $50 a week for announcements on his crypto sub but only gets sponsors once in a blue

You have to know 'how' to use reddit to make money with crypto

It's not as simple as posting.

I helped 3 projects that made over $1m in presale, no false numbers.

Can you tell more details? Pls

the sub dies fast if every third post smells paid, so I’d cap sponsor content hard and keep normal guides, market talk, warnings, and user posts as the main feed

it only stays effective when the content first provides real discussion value and doesn’t feel like placement-heavy advertising. sponsors care more about engagement quality than size, so consistent discussion, active comments, and niche relevance

selling direct sponsored posts on a small sub is a massive grind and honestly not worth the headache. the guys saying projects won't pay for a 6k sub are mostly right... crypto teams usually want massive reach or they just spam the free subs. but if your traffic is mostly US and Canada, that's high value. instead of selling ads, you should use it for high-ticket affiliate stuff or CPA. pin a really detailed, genuine guide about security or some trading tools and slide your ref links in there. it looks like helpful content, keeps the sub clean, and usually pays way better than a $50 sponsored post that just ends up looking like a scam anyway.
