I have noticed sometimes posts get decent views but almost no engagement. Do you think it is mainly the title, timing, or subreddit audience causing this?
Why do some Reddit comments suddenly start getting upvotes hours after being posted?

Usually it's a mix of timing subreddit activity and early engagement sometimes a post or comment gets picked up later when more users come online or when another high-upvoted comment brings attention back to the thread

Yup, usually it's a mix of all three. But in my opinion, the title makes the biggest difference. If the hook isn't strong enough, people just scroll without engaging.

According to my experience, it can be a mix of timing, subreddit activity, and how visible the comment becomes in the thread. Sometimes a post or comment gets picked up later when more users become active in that subreddit. The title and audience also seem to matter a lot. Even good posts can get low engagement if they are posted at the wrong time or in a subreddit where people do not interact much.

It's mainly due to the timing of the post and the initial upvotes. If a comment is posted early, matches the subreddit's vibe and gets quick engagement, Reddit will prioritize its display, so the upvotes only increase significantly a few hours later.

as a beginner i think If the comment adds value, people may continue voting for it even many hours after it was posted.
