Yes buying a Reddit account and changing the account details to those of your choosing is not only possible but also the optimal thing to do in order to secure the account.

You can change basic details like the bio, profile style, and posting direction over time, but my advice is not to force a sudden switch right away. If the account already has a history in a completely different niche, changing everything too aggressively can make it look unnatural.

Just make sure you buy a Good account not stolen accounts ,Many High karma accounts sold in the internet are stolen especially never buy from Telegram where people sell high karma accounts for cheap in few hours or days the owner of the account will try resetting the password aggressively even if you change email address reddit can ban the account quick

High karma doesn’t mean the account is safe. You can change some details, but don’t flip everything at once or turn it into a business promo account overnight. That usually looks weird fast. Better warm it up slowly, keep the login environment stable, and make the new content match the old account history as much as possible. Separate browser profiles help too, especially if handling more than one Reddit account.
You can not change username , you change bio , link and profile , banner photo and account name
- Avoid buying on Telegram or from sellers who only accept Bitcoin payments. I recommend looking for external websites — they are usually the best option.
- Avoid accounts with only post karma.
- Avoid accounts that are only 2 or 3 days old.

i would say karma is one indicator but the overall history and authenticity of an account are also very important
