I genuinely cannot find any clients as a programmer

Getting banned on Facebook isn’t a huge problem. A lot of people get clients through LinkedIn, Reddit, X/Twitter, or cold email now. What really matters is having a specific niche, strong samples, and doing consistent outreach every day.

WHAT DO I DO? I already target a niche... any platforms on which I should advertise aside from Discord and Upwork? My facebook is banned
I’d look into Reddit, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram groups, niche forums, SEO, and cold outreach, relying only on social platforms gets risky fast once bans start happening.

Instead of Fb, focus on LinkedIn and Twitter. Share case studies and niche knowledge there so clients will find you. Or build a Telegram group and drive traffic from Reddit, it's a sustainable and proactive approach.

"i'm a programmer" is not a reason to hire someone. what problem do you solve, for who, and what does it cost them to not fix it

if you’re getting zero clients, the problem usually isn’t the platform

I’ve seen developers spend months jumping between Upwork, Discord, Fiverr, Reddit and X without getting a single client because they were competing with everyone else

Pick one niche and solve one problem.
Python developer is too broad.
Building automation tools for e-commerce stores is a service
Creating lead generation bots for agencies is a service.
Fixing WordPress speed issues is a service.

Clients buy outcomes, not programming languages

One thing i noticed: people trust demos more than messages. A short video showing the automation working usually gets more attention than long explanations about ai or integrations.

Depends a bit on your niche, but beyond Discord/Upwork the usual heavy hitters:

  • Reddit — niche subreddits (give value, don't pitch openly; DM warm leads).
  • LinkedIn — best for B2B; mix of cold DMs + posting in your niche.
  • X/Twitter — build in public + niche hashtags, DM people with the problem you solve.
  • Other marketplaces — Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, Contra, Toptal (if you qualify).
  • Cold email — scrape/find businesses in your niche, short personalized pitch + free sample. Still the most underrated B2B channel.
  • Niche Slack/Telegram/forums where your clients already hang out.
  • Referrals — ask past clients; warmest leads you'll get.
Biggest unlock isn't the platform though — it's leading with a free sample/result instead of "I offer X." That converts on any channel.

What's your niche? That decides which 2 of these are actually worth your time vs spreading thin.
