Hey everyone, I'm building a new dating app. I think I've got the basics down. Any ideas on what else I should add?

Right now you're thinking features - but distribution + liquidity is the real game. Dating apps die when you have 200 dudes + 8 girls logging in once a week, algorithm can't fix empty inventory. I'd focus on geo seeding small cities first, fake scarcity, tight radius + heavy moderation so first 1k users actually get matches.
@gigateub is right too - payments + chargebacks will smoke you if you push subs too early. Get engagement loop dialed in first, then monetize.

I know its morally wrong, but the only way to succeed in this is by adding ai girls, because getting girls to sign up is incredibly difficult. i talked to a few guys working at tinder japan and they told me 95% of their users are male and its a huge problem for them

Dating apps are terrible. You have to design in a way that women get all the power and men think spending money is solving their empty inbox. There are many approaches, but they're all unethical. Tinder and bumble are unethical, like all other big dating apps.

How do you plan to differentiate from the big ones? Have you thought about the way you will design the algorithm?
Dating apps are a difficult niche, as you have to decide between being ethical and fair and being profitable, and these kinda collide with each other

In order to market a dating app in a sea of other competitions, you should definitely focus over some unique features and marketing.

You have to pick a lane: Drain the single guys and architect an app that keeps them single but longterm paying customers who think a relationship is just around the corner, or you pick the lane of matching your customers quickly and efficiently.
A) is profitable longterm, B) is ethical

The biggest challenge isn't features, it's getting enough people on both sides of the marketplace. Many similar apps can fail because they're focused on building more functionality instead of solving the chicken-and-egg problem. If users sign up and don't get matches in the first few days, they're usually gone forever....
