how to start a Movie website

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to build a movie website, but I'm still a bit unsure about how to actually get started. I've done some research on other sites and found out that I'll need to use an API and a WordPress theme called "Mandara" to kick things off.

If anyone could help me figure out the first steps or point me toward a post/guide that explains the whole process clearly, I would really appreciate it.

First question, how you plan to monitise it, since you can't monitise easily pirate content? You can't take membership payments via gateways for pirate content. There are places you can make money starting today, TBH a movie pirate site is too much hassle. You think you would be the first pirate movie interpol door target? lol and i bet your parents wouldn't be happy about that 3am in the morning? :)
 
I worked on this theme for about a year, then switched to another one! Mandara isn't really suited for movies—it's more for manga and novels. Plus, it's very complex, heavily reliant on plugins (which are from the same author and don't always work properly), and is “famous” for slow loading times and poor technical support.
 
Okay, let's assume I don't use the Mandara theme, then what is the first step I have to prepare? I've also searched and found that one of the things that could be an obstacle is if one of the media player sites deletes their link and I have to change the embedded HTML. So, are there any suggestions for this problem, considering the number of films is very large?
 
Starting a movie website is not too hard if you plan step by step First learn basic WordPress setup then choose a good theme and movie API Start small test everything and slowly improve your site with time and experience

the reason why i want that bcs in my 3rd world country we don't have credit cards
 
If you’re talking about a movie database site and not streaming copyrighted content, then it’s actually pretty simple

Most people start with: WordPress, a movie theme like Mandara, DooPlay or similar, TMDB API for movie data, VPS once traffic starts growing

The bigger challenge isn’t the setup. You’ll have a working site in a weekend. The hard part is getting traffic because thousands of movie sites are using the exact same API data

If you’re planning to rely only on auto-imported movie pages, SEO will be rough. I’d recommend adding unique content from day one (reviews, rankings, news, recommendations, actor pages, etc.).

The technical part is probably 10% of the work. Getting traffic is the other 90%
 
Agree with a bunch of the replies here, think about (a) marketing and (b) revenue. Without it, building it is not worth it.
