Status: Surviving on savings.
Runway: End of 2026.Background:

About me : Self-taught coder (pre-AI era, early 2020s). Strong at 1:1 relationship building and planning deliberate conversations that often secure favors or collaboration. Bad at selling tho, the moment I bring money into the relation not only the lead disappear I dont close anything....

A software engineer has agreed to work for free. Spent the past month studying sales, though still no cold emails or calls executed. Secured one warm in-person lead for a custom invoice system tho.

Multiple apps have been built, but none achieved meaningful profitability. Recently launched two meme pages on social media (2M+ monthly views and 300K monthly views). Conversion rates suckstho - any suggetions are welcome

The overall plan is this:
  1. Generate leads (emails, social, events)
  2. Deploy setters
  3. Deploy closers
  4. Close sales
  5. Handle fulfillment and back-office automation
Rinse and repeat...

My challenge really is finding a way to get a high quality lead flow... Sure, I can keep going to IRL events but that means my success is tied to my location.
I have considered outreach at scale (can get a list of 10k without that much effort) but the conversion is ridiculously low...
My key assets are:
  • A small team willing to work for free
  • Solid understanding of the individual components (lead gen, sales process, fulfillment)
  • Simple post-close process (Stripe link)

You already have social media, and that is a huge advantage. It’s easy to build a website or a WordPress blog and start sending traffic to it. I’m not sure what the meme CPM is on AdSense or Ezoic, but for sure, if you can send 5,000 people per day, you can make good money every month. Plus, you can add affiliate programs too.

You already have the basic foundation. I was in an even worse situation than you 2 years ago. I’m not saying it’s easy, but I understand your situation because I was the same 2 years ago. The difference is that you already have something valuable you can use — your social media.

Expand the social accounts, create a blog or even a few blogs for each social profile, grow them, and start making money. To start, you don’t need much money — just a cheap domain and a cheap server. If you can’t afford a .com domain right now, buy a very cheap domain for $2–$3 and later, when the project starts growing, migrate it to a .com.

You already have something ready to use that most people starting today don’t have.

Update on this journey...
I growth the instagram accounts - something obvious at this point that I didnt knew:
millions of views not mean dozens of sales

That part deeply trouble me... I used to thought on a very basic level 1 impression is 1 impression . The content doesnt matter that much - I was fu wrong....

At this point:
3 instagram accounts - 30 days statistics:
- i**v : 6 mill - post 3-5 day - 1.2k followers - niche: memes
- d**c : 1.5 mill - post 3-5 every day - 250 followers - niche memes
- x**n : 2 mill - post 1 ev 2 weeks - +10k followers - niche: news

It is true... general audience dont buy . The reach is too broad .
On top of that I got into a "startup residency" and finished an app called t**.lat and another called c**.lat , .com domains were not available...
Did I made a mistake and should go for .com?

--- sidenote How I got into a startup program?
The residency program start next week - how I get in? After applying I literally message via twitter the organizer about a recent post he made that got a lot of critique. I message him telling him I agree what he said, lay out my points - that grew into a conversation and eventually told him about my social media accounts. He knows sh about ig - therefore believed my distributions skills were outstanding (ofc they are not im just fucking persistent and manual with ig). Lucky for me that was enough to change his mind and next day got an invite...
----

This is my overall offer:
1. t**.lat - this one is an app to automate QA on other apps. I know how to code so I set up a virtual emulator on a server to click, record, screenshot and feed the info to an ai that tell you if your app is broken or not. Meant for recurring and autonomous QA tests on software.
2. c**.lat - this one is basically a database where I have collected all the memes reels I posted, generated a description and pair with the caption, description and time posted. Im selling the access to the db as a way to get views , with a lot of proof from my accounts on the landing page. This one is not live because I kinda bail the project thinking the product is not good enough

Both products have the same problem - idk from what angle to sell...

This is how my reasoning goes - if you have any feedback very much appreciated

Option 1: Sk**l community
This idea seems like the most viable, because 1. future proof (now that we are moving away from an attention economy into a trust economy this is almost all that is left), 2. low ticket - maybe people wont buy the products but cheap access to a community is perceived as low risk as long as the community looks professional, 3. I could sell my products as add ons rather than separate products
Downside: Im very likely bias and a community could be more work than I expect.

Option 2: Rebrand landing pages + new domains
Scrape all apps, build new landing page - try again in product hunt selling both products with different narratives. Sure - sounds good - but really a low ROI option because at the end of the day I still have to put the work to rethink the offer again and since I dont have a clear angle I can attack this one feels like walking in the dark

Option 3: B2B Agency
Okay, maybe this approach of passive of B2C isnt working. Sell myself as a "service" (actually using the products I already built) to provide QA services and Social Media management. The downside on this one: Market oversaturated. Tons of agencies already do this.

Option 4: Fuck everything become a closer
Give myself to become a closer of online courses

----
Funnel Management
I believe all comes down to the funnel and the customer.
Funnel: Impressions -> Conversion -> Retention
Customer: Consumer, b2b < 1k , b2b <3k, b2b < 10k ... larger enterprises

Im aware there are many channels for impressions - Im only considering social media, instagram specifically, because is the only one I kinda know how to run. But im aware there is email, SEO, LEO... and thats it, isnt?

The content strategy comes down to find someone who already knows what is doing - some influencer - try to replicate their format . Eventually colabs and stuff but im not that advance (broke) .

B2B : Reels -> Landing Page -> Call (easier said that done)
B2C : Reels -> Landing Page (easier said that done)

---

As you can read, I given my journey some thought. The thing is im genuinely disturbed because really believe impressions = sales. It is not...
Have you heard of the 4 blind guys in a dark room? The story goes like this: Think of the blind men and the elephant. Each man touches one part — a leg, a tail, an ear — and thinks he knows the animal. None of them sees the whole picture. thats how i feel rn

What im missing?

yeah meme traffic is basically useless for selling actual products... been there. those millions of views are just kids or people scrolling for dopamine, they arent buying software. your real strength is clearly that 1:1 relationship building. i mean, you literally talked your way into a startup residency. that is a massive skill. you should use that for the QA tool instead of trying to go wide with social media or massive cold email lists. find 50 founders on twitter or linkedin who just launched something buggy and send them a personalized loom or a free audit using your tool. it takes more time but with your skill set you will actually close some of them. forget the skool community and the meme database, those are just distractions because you are trying to avoid the sales part. stick to the B2B play.
