Hey guys,

I’m completely new to the adult eCommerce world and I’ll be honest — I’m lost when it comes to the advertising side.

I’m planning to launch a US-focused adult store (sex toys, condoms, lubricants, accessories). The store part I can handle, but the paid traffic part is where I have zero experience.

I want to use ExoClick as my main traffic source, but I don’t really know:

• How to create banners that actually work for adult eCom (not cam/dating)
• What kind of angles are better – clean wellness style or more explicit?
• Which formats on ExoClick make sense for a store – banners, native, in-page push, video?
• How to test without burning money in a day

For SEO I plan to follow the methods from AdultSEO Maven, so long term I want organic traffic too, but right now I need help with ads.

I’m choosing between xMarketplace and IntimateDropship for US fulfillment, but before even thinking about scaling, I need to understand the basics:

  1. What CTR/CR is realistic for a beginner store on ExoClick?
  2. How many creatives should I test at the start?
  3. What are the most common mistakes newbies make with adult advertising?
I know these are basic questions, but I’d rather ask than waste money blindly. Any advice would be really appreciated

Although I have only been a supplier in this niche market, I have seen some owner's shared experiences on Reddit. These guys running ExoClick for physical products, and the numbers are pretty brutal. Expect a tiny CTR around 0.1% to 0.5%, and very realistically,, a conversion rate under 0.5% is normal because user intent is super low on those sites—many people burn a couple hundred bucks at the start just to get single-digit sales.

But actually I don't know the exact dashboard settings or daily optimizations. I would highly recommend spending a few nights digging through the adult marketing subreddits here, as the media buyers sharing their daily strategies on the subreddit will have much better granular advice for you.

Starting with smaller test budgets and multiple creatives is probably the safest approach. From what I've seen, many beginners focus too much on CTR and not enough on landing page quality, trust signals, and conversion tracking.

One mistake I see often is focusing heavily on ad metrics while overlooking trust signals on the store itself. Even strong traffic can struggle to convert if the site doesn't inspire confidence or clearly communicate value.
