This is the advice that if I could go back to when I was 18 and teach myself I would be, today, sitting on a yacht laughing at my ridiculous success.

Instead. I discovered this at 43.

That's ok for me. I'm blessed with good genetics and I have the same energy/health I had in my 20's so I can keep building, but I'll impart this wisdom on my younger friends here on bhw.

Most of you won't manage to do this though. It requires discipline and it goes against everything the influencers preach, but for the handful of you that do, you're in for an amazing life.

Here's the biggest secret that no one talks about.. (really)

You only need to compound 8-9% to get wealthy. You don't need to make 15%, 20% or higher returns.

The S&P 500 has done about 11% average over the past 100 years.

Over a period of 20-30 years you're going to get 8 to 12% with it. Likely more like 12% given the debasement of currency and the technological growth of the economy, but you only need 8%. Anything else is a bonus.

Here's your life plan:

Age 18 to 30 - You have maximum energy. This is also the worst time for men. Trust me. 40+ is the fucking time to be a man :-) 18-30 is your prep-years. (Whether you want a wife or to be a playboy. Doesn't matter. Build and focus on you first and you'll get a super high quality wife at 30-35+ and can build a huge family with ease if that's what you want. Which imo is the best path.)

Use this time to bank hard. Don't try to grow companies.

Venture Capital is a big scam. It's slavery wrapped up in a nice box. They want your energy to make them rich.

If you can net just $2 mil by the time you're 25, here's what the numbers look like with 9% compounding :

That means, $2 mil in VOO or an S&P 500 tracker. Don't overcomplicate it. This is all you need. Banks want to sell you fancy things because they make money on them. They don't make much money on simple index's.

In 50 years, you're worth $150 million.

That means, if all you do, is bank $2mil by age 25, when you're 75 you're a deca-millionaire. And in current time's, 75 year olds are going to be like 40 year olds are today.

But here's the magic..

You keep working and banking until you're about 30. At this point, you've maxed out your VOO. Job should be done. The more you get in it pre age-30, the more you'll have later in life.

Now you might think life is going to be boring until 75.

But, you're now 30, your future is set. You know what you can do now?

Use your energy. Earn, spend, have fun. You can make $500k/year and spend every penny on lifestyle. Travel, party, drive sports cars.

By the time you're 40, your $2mil you banked in VOO at 25 is worth $7.2 million.

At this point, you can start taking loans against it. 2% is the sweet spot. You can take 2% per year for the rest of your life and never pay tax on it and never get margin called.

At 40, your 2% loan is $145k/year. $12k/mo tax free, work free, that will only increase year on year.

Want to buy a house? You can get a super low rate mortgage against your principle. The house and the principle compound.

Let's say you take a loan of $800k for a house. Your $800k keeps compounding at 9%. The house compounds at 5-6%, and the loan interest is 4-5%.

By the time you're 50, your principle is $17 mil and your tax free yearly is $344k. At this point, you own a home, have $30k/mo tax free and never have to work again. Or, you can keep hustling and making cash. Maybe you're working and making $50k/mo. You can fly private, charter yachts and have fun, all safe in the knowledge your lifestyle is secured for the next 100 years.

2% loans yearly will keep your LTV under 25% indefinitely.

By year 60, you're worth $350m and if you want you can take out a couple extra big loans for big purchases if you want.

You're 85, but you have so much wealth you've had access to all the best supplements, peptides and anti-aging medicine so you look like a 55 year old.

It's that easy.

Age 18-30 - Just earn and bank. Don't grow companies. Don't reinvest heavily into a company. If you can bank $300k-$400k/year for a few years you're good. Build a company to $1mil/year, and bank $800k/year. Don't try to grow it to $5mil/year by reinvesting that $800k. Just get to $5mil in VOO before 30 and you're good. $10-$12m by 30 and you're going to stinking rich at 60.

Everyone makes the mistake of either spending, or trying to grow a company early.

It's easy to make $1mil/year for 5 years.

It's very hard to build a company to $10mil/year. Not many can do it. You have to be truly good at business, and this takes years, which defeats the point.

30-45 - This is your earning years. You've got more skills. You can probably make $2-$3m/year at this point. Don't save it. You don't need to. Spend spend spend. Go fucking crazy. Life like you're super rich, because when you're 50, you will be super rich without working. At 30-45 you have to work to be it, which is fine.

45-50+ - Choice is yours. Spend time with the family. Be a playboy. Work. Don't work. Play WoW. Doesn't matter. You're a decamillionaire. Enjoy life.

P.S. Copy and paste this into chatgpt and ask it questions. Ask it to give you tables of year on year and ask it about LTV, how to take loans against your principle, what VOO is, what buy, borrow, die is and practicalities of what I'm saying, but most of all, keep it fucking simple. The reason this won't work is if you try to get fancy and make higher %'s or you want to sell and spend your principle. Just s&p 500. That's all you need.

P.P.S: Are you 40+ ? This won't work well. You need to build a company and sell it for $10-$12m by the time you're 45-50 and you're set. Still do-able, but you can't do it with $2m-$5m unless you can wait until 80+. If you start at 50 with $12m, by the time you're 65 your principle is like $35m. It's do-able though. You just need to build a decent company to $5m ARR and you can sell for $10m-$15m.

Your sharing is very good. It will resonate with those who lack leadership skills and prefer working alone, when you simply want to be financially independent and in control of your life, rather than building a grand career.

sorry, this kind of member can say whatever he wants and he will get 50 auto-likes from other vips + please read tag xD

i don't know where you are from, I would say the UK, US or something like that, but

''If you can bank $300k-$400k/year for a few years you're good. ''
''It's easy to make $1mil/year for 5 years.''
''If you can net just $2 mil by the time you're 25''

Who the hell is this text written for?

You can say I'm a loser, but for 99.999% of the global population this is a total fantasy, who has $2M as a 25yo guy?

Most people are struggling to pay their rental, imagine saving 2 million american dollars being a young person. Completely out of the reality. And if you don't have this unrealistic foundation, there's no point in thinking about your future $150M or being a 60yo playboy

whatever, maybe this was written for upper class americans or people with rich families talking about yatches and private planes

but this forum has a lot of freelancers from india, pakistan, bangladesh, africans, latins, everyday there are people creating threads here about ''how can i earn $3 per day on internet, so i can stop starving'', then we can only laugh reading this kind of stuff...

I'm from Europe and that kind of money is fantasy for the vast majority of people here.

hardest part is the assumption that consistently banking millions in your 20s is "easy," because for most people that’s the real challenge, not the investing part

There are levels.

Level 1 is mindset/emotional and you just can't make money. These are people who will just read/dream, but never take action. After reading, they'll go and watch netflix.

This advice is useless for them. I don't usually give advice to the level 1's. They're hard to help and they need deep subconscious work. The level 1 guys only hope is work a normal job and live life or be determined enough to break through. I was a level 0 when I started. I wasn't even level 1.

Level 2's have a better base mindset. They got lucky with their parents and have stronger beliefs. They have higher self-worth and they can work/build.

For a level 2 they just need to put in the 60 hours a week for 2 years and accept the making no money. Eventually they'll make it.

Level 3 is where this is aimed at. Guys who are doing well. $5k/mo, $10k/mo, $20k/mo online. They're growing, but their biggest challenge is not going off the rails and spending, or becoming complacent.

Your biggest issue as a level 3 22 year old making $10k/mo is that you stay the path and don't just go get yourself a bmw, a nice apartment and spend your 20's partying and having fun.

I wrote this for level 3's and level 2's.

Useless advice.

It assumes you already have 10% of your income available to invest, but in reality the majority of people trying to achieve financial independence live paycheck to paycheck or worse.

So this is just the same thing every other guru says.

From your perspective, absolutely. Entirely useless advice.

This won't help you at all. It's not for you. It's for guys making $5k to $10k/mo who are growing. It'll help them make decisions now that'll secure their future.

The guy making $20k/mo can take $15k/mo of that, live off $5k/mo and in 5 years, he's got $1mil to compound. He's set for life even with just the tiny of acting of taking 3/4 of his $20k/mo and putting it into the s&p 500 instead of blowing it on crap.

And the thing is, you don't go from $20k/mo to $50k/mo by investing. You go from skilling up.

He doesn't need his $15k/mo to grow. He needs to skill up and maybe $500-$1k/mo of it max.

P.S. I'm not a guru. I don't sell courses. Never have. I don't make money off you. I have a SaaS. This is just take it or leave advice.

So you just need to make $2M by 25, it's that easy.

I'm from Europe and that kind of money is fantasy for the vast majority of people here.

That's only because you haven't seen the reality of what's possible yet.

There are people doing so much money you'd struggle to believe it unless you saw it. A LOT of them.

Well well well

The country where I am living where a million dollars is not fascinating to each other because here every other person you find is a millionaire, and if you ask them what they did to become a millionaire. the short answer is compounding so yeah it's what this post is about so kudos to @splishsplash

And to everyone long story short this advice is not for the people who are struggling to eat bread and butter

Please don't make me remember when Bitcoin was $10

In fact we are still too early for Bitcoin and its potential is much higher than we can imagine.

This is the kind of thinking that keeps the masses poor, guys.

THIS. Exactly this.

When bitcoin was $10, it was a pure gamble.

You may as well go and buy a shitcoin now.

You may as well buy a lottery ticket.

This is NOT how you get wealthy.

Bitcoin will not make huge gains anymore. Those days are over.

You aren't going to turn $5k in bitcoin into 10's of millions.

What it will probably do is a clean 15% compounding for the next few years, then settle into 8-12%

You don't NEED shitcoins. You don't NEED 100x gains.

This is gambling.

Poor people: High risk, low time.

Wealthy people: Low risk, long time period.

VC tech bros: Same poor person mentality. They give up their company for investment. It's like being a slave in roman times and your master gives you gold to go to the market and lets you take a bite of the meat and a sip of wine. Oh thank you master. I'm so privileged.

Because they want FAST/INSTANT money. They're thinking. Yeah, I will get an instant payout when we go public in 3 years.

99% of them make nothing.

Instead, if they just built a small company, made $5 mil and compounded it they'd be set for life.

But everyone wants it NOW.

Trust me, when you're 60, you'll wish you'd compounded early. You will feel pretty much the same as you do now. You won't magically be a radically different person. You'll just have less energy and less time.

If you're in a poor country and don't think you can make huge amounts, then my advice still stands. Just lower the amount.

Make $5k/mo online, bank $4000.

Do that for 10 years.

By year 10, your portfolio is $774k at 9% compounding.

By year 20 it's $1.9m

by year 30 it's $4.6m

It's that easy.

20 year old in India or whereever. You can do shit and earn $5k/mo. This is NOT a huge amount of money.

Grind and hustle for 10 years. Bank $4k every month and live off the $1k.

By the time you hit year 10, you can take a 2% loan, tax free from year 10. At year 10 that gives you $15k/year

By year 15, your loan is $24k/year

At this point, you don't have to work to maintain your life, and you keep compounding.

You're 35, your loan is $24k/year and your principle is $1.4m

You can also keep working. At this point, you don't have to save shit. That's the magic. Keep earning $5k/mo. Now you've got $5k/mo and $2k/mo from your nest egg. $7k/mo to live off. Every month. Spend it all.

You're now 40, you're still working, maybe you're making $10k/mo. Your nest egg is giving you $37k/year. $3.4k/mo. You're ballin'. Your principle is $1.9m

You're better off than most Americans at this point.

By 50, you retired. Your principle is now $4.6m and total debt is $966k. You keep compounding on the $4.6m and the debt negatively compounds at a lower %.

Your LTV is only 20% and you're 50, so you can increase to 3% yearly safely.

You're now taking home $139k/year, tax free $11500 per month.

Life is fucking amazing. Maybe you start a little business and make another $10k/mo. You keep spending. $20k/mo on lifestyle. You can even fly private once a year for the experience.

By age 55 you're at $218k/year tax free from your principle.

By age 65 you're at $535k per year. HALF A FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS. Tax free.

As an Indian who just made the decision at 20 to hustle and make $5k/mo, and put by $4k for 10 years. Maybe worked 60-70 hours a week in his 20's to do that. It was hard and you don't want to go back, but those 10 years have set you up for a life that most americans can only dream of.

At age 75 your total net worth is now $43 million.

Yeah. 43 MILLION.

Compounding.

Your total debt is $14 million. Your LTV is 33%

Your yearly is now $1.3 million.

You have enough money to fly private, charter yachts and hang with your grandkids on the yacht.

You die at 93. Your net worth is $180 million. You die a decamillionaire.

Your total debt was $58 million with 34.6% LTV.

Your net is $120 million.

You setup a trust for your grandkids. You left a legacy.

And all you did.. Worked 70 hours a week for 10 years doing online services and living on $1k/mo while banking $4k/mo for 10 years.

That's the reality. But the world will tell you to "build the next facebook" or "invest in complex financial products".

No, you just buy a s&p 500 tracker. If it doesn't go up over a 15-20+ year period it means the world basically ended.

P.S. If you want a little more of a modern, slightly riskier version(and my exact investing strategy)

Mine is 50% S&P 500, 30% bitcoin etf and 20% microstrategy.

I really doubt bitcoin will go to 0, and that, will probably have an edge on pure s&p 500, especially over the next 20 years. Probably about 20% average compounded over 20 years vs the s&p's 8 to 12%

Read the above.

What's your next excuse?

Or, we can just lower.

Earn $1k/mo online for 20 years. Bank $500/mo

By year 40(When you're 60) you have $2mil net worth, and your 3% loan is $65k/year or $5k/mo

But if you can't even make $500/mo extra, then sure, this isn't for you.

I don't think anybody can explain better or simplest than you just did. I mean look at the simple calculation its really ridiculously simple as you mentioned in $5K/mo earning while keep $4K bank can still makes wealthy and people will still not focus on this simple & solid advice at all

Yes, people will still come up with excuses because they don't want to put in the time. They want to either feel sorry for themselves or gamble.

I edited the above post.

Earn $1k/mo for 20 years. age 20-40

Put by $500/mo

By age 60 you've got $2m principle and your loans are $60k/year

By age 70 it's $5m principle and $150k/year loans. And that was just the VA who worked for 20 years earning $1k/mo, living off $500.

Heck, even as an absolute worst case.

age 20-40. You earn $600/mo as a VA. Put by $200 per month and live off the $400.

By age 60 you've got $800k and $24k/year tax free.

Even at age 45, y ou've still got $209k and $4200 per year. Almost the same amount you had to work for, by just age 45.

By age 50 you've got $327k and $9800/year. $800/mo.

At age 50, you've got double the money you had while you worked and you don't have to work, and it's tax free.

Who's going to tell me you can't work 20 to 40, earning $600/mo and banking $200?

Come on :-)

From your perspective, absolutely. Entirely useless advice.

The title of your thread is literally "Life Advice for 18–30"

But majority of 18–30-year-olds are students, freelancers, part‑time workers, or in entry‑level jobs, so their median earnings are below $2,000 (or equivalent) in the majority of developed countries.

So what are you talking about?

You are basically saying: "If you’re 18 and want to get rich, just go earn $10K a month first and once you do, I’ll show you with some simple math how easy it is to become a millionaire." :)

Job done. You don't need to read anymore. The post offends you and doesn't apply to you. Move on to a more appropriate thread and have a happy day.

& after reading ^ this simplistic breakdown the only thing left for losers to keep as an excuse is what why they are still or always poor. because they never understand the simple mathematics of finance and cumponding.

Huge respect to you
