I got duped maybe 2 years ago into sending $10,000 to what was likely a fishing address that mimicked my own address because they sent me change and I didn't catch it.

That was my Ultimate burn.

I knjow i'm not the only one with these horror stories. Share!

I once sent around 0.5 SOL ~$140 back then to the wrong address after copy-pasting it wrong. Since then I double-check every wallet before sending. $10k is a brutal hit though.

Only when you 'need it' lol Doesn't hurt as much as when the crypto is rolling and you're up high

Happened to me few years ago
I installed a chrome extension which changed the actual btc address in payment processor to some other
Lost around $300

Yeah, apps that change addresses without giving you a warning first...... = a money grab ..........imo

Around 20k to a company that promised to reward me with a bigger amount of physical gold. If I had this amount right now I would be closer to financial freedom.

I lost 80 USD but couldn't get it back because I didn't receive a memo.

i never lost a single cent
i always double check everything

I once lost $200 because I sent funds to the wrong address. It was a painful experience, especially because that money came from my savings.

Is this story true? It's hard to believe. Anyone would carefully check the wallet address for that amount of money. I don't believe this is true; if it is, I'm sorry to hear that.

Luckily never lost a large amount, but was 700 usd once , so painful
after that I always send a small test transaction first or double check
That habit probably saved me more than once.

This scam is called address poisoning. I lost $200 this year because of it, but Trust Wallet has finally fixed it. Now, it warns you if you copy a spoofed address that looks like your real one. It took years, but it's a great step forward to keep others from falling into the same trap.

Sent $450 in XRP to an exchange and forgot the Destination Tag. Lost it. There was nothing support could do. One empty text box, cost me a few hundred bucks
