How not to get scammed with crypto?

verify any exchange before to use it and never leave your funds on exchange put them in a external wallet and you will be fine.

biggest rule is don’t trust platforms or people blindly just because they “look legit”

stick to known exchanges, double check URLs every time, and never connect your wallet to random sites or links

I think there will always be people who want to scam others.

Therefore, we still need to double-check transactions before proceeding, both with cryptocurrency and in real life.

Tell your friend to stop treating exchanges like banks. If he wants to survive crypto, tell him to avoid these 3 insider traps:
  • "Proof of Reserves" is fake: Exchanges easily fake audits by borrowing liquidity for 2 days. Only keep active trading capital on them; rest goes to cold storage.
  • Google Ad Phishing: Never Google your exchange to log in. Scammers buy the top Ad slots with fake, cloned URLs to drain your 2FA. Bookmark the real site once and only use that.
  • Crazy Yields = Liquidity Trap: If an exchange offers 12-20% APY just for holding crypto there, they are gambling with your money in high-risk DeFi. Run.

Don't go all-in on the exchange. Only keep money for trading, withdraw the rest to your own wallet. Enable 2FA, avoid suspicious links, and check reviews before using a new exchange. In crypto, personal security is more important than hype.

How to not get scammed:

- dont trust random guys
- dont trust random projects
- always be critical
- only use trustful platforms like Binance, Coinbase etc
- only trade BTC and the common altcoins
- no memecoins
- no third party tools
- only get trustful tools, etc. from the original source
- if you get emails, always check the original sender email address (phishing)
- dont believe to-good-to-be-true promises

in other words: make urself a binance / coinbase account, etc. and only trade the common coins

Make sure you use only trusted crypto exchanges that are regulated and have good reviews. scammers often create fake platforms, so checking reputation first can save a lot of trouble.

I've seen so many cases like this that now I only dare to use large exchanges, enable 2FA, and avoid keeping too much money on the exchange. Crypto can yield quick profits, but it can also evaporate quickly if you're careless.

Stay away from direct messages and offers that promise you're going to make money

NEVER trust guaranteed returns. Use only proper exchange and verified links.

From the marketing side of the business, three patterns I have seen across crypto launches we have run growth for line up with what is in this thread.
KOL fraud is rampant. About 30% of the influencers pitching engagement rates above 5% have bought views and bot followers. The way to vet them is to look at comment ratios, not just impressions, and to check if past projects they shilled still have on chain activity 60 days later. Most do not.
Tokenomic red flags. If a project is offering 12 to 20% APY just for holding, the math only works if new buyers keep entering. That is a Ponzi structure with a UI on top. On the campaigns we picked up later (PokerDAO, Aiko, Peanut Trade), the strongest ones had emission curves that decayed and were funded by actual fee revenue from the product, not by new deposit inflow.
Exchange listing scams. Smaller exchanges sell paid listings with leaked private keys baked into the contract. We have seen a few tokens get wiped out 24 hours after listing because the exchange itself rugged the contract. Vet the exchange the same way you would vet the project.
The pattern across all three: scams target the dopamine hit, not the diligence. Slow the decision down 48 hours and most of these collapse on their own.

Hmmm ok, there is soooo much of life i must be missing then cause I don't use crypto? I can't use it for any entertainment in my city or to buy food, or pay for my internet. Its of no use if i want to buy an ice cream or have a coffee or meal with family. I also can't pay for any of my development or software tools that I use.

So remind me, WHAT exactly am i missing out on? lol (or what would you be missing out on even more importanly?) lol
Get a bybit card, top it up with crypto and get cashbacks? It’s like regular Visa/Mastercard, I’ve never had a bad experience with that… also there are eshops at least in my country where you can pay with crypto, so cool to buy stuff and no one asks where you got the money from

Avoid those low-quality exchanges with poor liquidity, Bro. Prioritize top exchanges with 2FA security, a user insurance fund and try withdrawing small amounts first to check liquidity and support before deciding.
