Anyone here deal with YouTube shorts?

I'm having trouble finding unique niches

I have two small shorts channels I started about a week ago but they aren't very unique, already plenty of people in the space doing them

Anyone got any advice on where to search for successful niches before they blow up?

Also, I've noticed some huge pages using copyrighted music which has made me wonder, why do they use copyrighted music if the owner can claim the monetization from their videos?

The key is to look for stuff that’s trending but not oversaturated yet. Think about hobbies, weird life hacks, or even niche memes, stuff that’s specific enough to stand out but broad enough to attract viewers. Tools like https://trends.google.com/ or https://www.tiktok.com/ can help you spot what’s bubbling up before it blows up. Also, check out smaller creators in your space, they’re often the ones testing new ideas before the big players jump in.

About the copyrighted music thing, yeah, it’s risky. Some big pages use it because it grabs attention, and they’re banking on the algorithm pushing their content before a claim happens. But honestly, it’s not worth it if you’re trying to build something long-term. You lose monetization, and it can mess with your channel’s reputation. Instead, I’d stick with royalty-free music from places like https://www.epidemicsound.com/ or https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary. It’s safer, and you keep all the earnings.

There are plenty of them like - Short skits, parodies, Quick recipes, food hacks, Gameplay highlights and Funny sketches

Just remember: you don't need to recreate the wheel, of course you don't want something oversaturated and too repetitive, but you also don't need to bet in something completely new

If big pages are doing this, they might have taken permission from them.
