I’m interested in moving into wholesale but finding reliable suppliers feels like a minefield. There are tons of directories and “private contacts,” but it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s just recycled lists. For people sourcing wholesale successfully, how did you verify suppliers early on and avoid wasting time or money?

I’ve found the best approach is to start small and verify suppliers before committing. Request samples, check reviews or references, and communicate clearly about terms and shipping. Building a relationship early helps spot red flags and avoid wasted time or money.

In fact, most of the time, the authenticity of an agent can be evaluated during communication! In my experience, no real agent would spend a lot of time helping you quote prices, communicate, bind stores, and then collect the payment and disappear. Hey, buddy, you should know that in our line of work, the workload is all in the early stage, and there's no payment at all in the early stage. So, what reason is there to disappear after finishing those tasks? ! Haha

Depending on the industry but a regular normal due diligence on the potential suppliers should be enough

Starting with small test orders helps the most. It's usually easier to verify a supplier's reliability through communication, sample quality, and fulfillment speed than through directories alone.
