Guest posting still worth it in 2026 or just wasting time?

Done about 15 guest posts in last 4 months. Rankings barely moved. Spent so much time writing and doing outreach.
Feels like guest posting is dead but everyone still talks about it. Is it actually working for anyone right now or are there better ways to build links these days?

Posted on niche relevant sites or random ones?

Did you check what their current traffic stats and source are?

15 guest posts and little movement is rough. Guest posting isn’t dead, but now it works best with high-authority, relevant sites. Sometimes content that naturally attracts links, or HARO/resource page links, give better results.

What kind of sites were you posting on — niche-specific or more general blogs? That can really affect results.

Guest posting still works in 2026 if it’s niche-relevant and placed on real sites with traffic, not just low-quality blogs. Common mistake is focusing on volume instead of fewer high-quality placements that build real authority.

Guest posting still works, but only if the target sites have real, steady organic traffic and tight topical relevance to your niche. If you are posting on generic "accept all guest posts" blogs with high DR but zero actual impressions, Google completely ignores those links. Drop the generic outreach and shift your time toward digital PR data studies or building free interactive niche tools to naturally earn high-authority editorial links instead.

It still works when the sites are relevant, have real traffic. and the links make sense naturally.

If nothing moved, the placements were probably too weak or not worth the effort.

Guest posting is still worth it in 2026, but only if you treat it as authority building and audience acquisition, not just getting backlinks.

In my experience, what really matters with guest posting is the quality of the sites you're targeting, not just the quantity of posts. It's all about building real authority and relevance, and that means focusing on niche-specific sites with actual traffic and engagement. I've seen better results when the content is tailored to the site's audience and provides real value, rather than just being a generic piece with a backlink. The goal should be to build relationships with site owners and their audiences, not just to get a link. This approach takes more time and effort, but it's what sets apart the sites that see real movement in rankings from those that don't. By treating guest posting as a way to build authority and acquire a new audience, you can still get noticeable results from it.

Guest posting still works in 2026, but only when it’s done on credible, relevant sites. If 15 posts didn’t move rankings, it usually points to weak domains or a mismatch in topic relevance. Today, quality matters more than quantity digital PR, niche edits and earning links through useful content tend to work better than standard outreach posts.

Guest posting still works in my experience, but only when site are actualy relevant and have real traffic. Random mass guest post mostly feels like waste of time now.

Guest posting still works, but a lot of people are doing it on weak sites or pages that pass little value now. I do focus more on relevance, traffic, and getting links from pages that actually get indexed and visited.

Guest posting still works if the sites have real traffic and niche relevance. random spam guest posts feel mostly useless now. I say few quality placements are still worth more than hundreds of cheap links in 2026.

Guest posting still works, but not like it used to. A lot of guest post sites are heavily abused now, so Google probably discounts many of those links unless the site has real traffic and relevance. These days, I'm seeing better results from digital PR, niche edits on aged pages, linkable assets and getting mentions from sites that actually rank and get visitors. Quality matters way more than quantity now.

Guest post still works but there are multiple factors involved. Relevancy, Organic traffic, & quality placement are the most important factors. Did you outreach the random websites, or were they niche relevant?

I think the problem isn’t guest posting itself. It’s that most guest posts today are painfully predictable. When the placement exists only for SEO and adds no real audience value, it’s much easier for both users and algorithms to spot.

The placements that still seem to hold value are the ones that could realistically send referral traffic, build credibility, or make sense even without Google involved.

sometimes it takes 6 to 12 months to see SEO impact. Track which posts actually bring traffic or links before giving up completely.

i think guest posting is still work. but only relevant websites, if your site have real traffic. random guest post mostly time waste.
