Reached out to a site owner about a guest post opportunity. They replied fast asking to see my previous work.

Sent them 5 solid placements. High-quality sites, good content, everything looked legit.

Radio silence. For 3 weeks.

I followed up twice. Nothing.

Then randomly yesterday they reply: "Oh sorry, forgot to check my email. Yeah let's do it."

FORGOT TO CHECK EMAIL FOR 3 WEEKS? :)

This is why I don't take ghosting personally anymore. Half the time they're not rejecting you. They're just disorganized as hell.

Patience beats panic every time.

How long do you wait before giving up on a ghosted prospect?

Happens to me a lot too. I usually just follow up a few more times before giving up.
 
I heard someone say that you follow up until they say yes or they call the cops. Seems reasonable
 
Honestly, this happens way more than people think. A lot of site owners are juggling multiple inboxes and opportunities at once, so silence doesn’t always mean rejection.
 
I normally send a couple of follow ups over a few weeks before I decide to move on. In many cases, site owners are simply busy or not very organized, so a delayed reply does not always mean they are not interested. Staying patient and following up politely can often lead to better results than giving up too quickly.
 
That's the freelance life in a nutshell, total chaos, right? Honestly, people are just bad at managing their stuff, and ghosting often has nothing to do with your work, so don't sweat it
 
It happened a lot with me & I felt that even I am organized to make my workflow smoother. People on the other side aren't & then comes the test of patience. I made a rule that when I open my inbox, I check all the folders specially the spam folder. I have found many business emails in the spam folder, which got converted in future.
 
I have fortune-500 clients who ghost me for months on end, it's just how business works sometimes.

This happens a lot honestly. Many site owners are just busy or very disorganized, especially in outreach and guest posting. I usually follow up 2 or 3 times over a month before moving on. Sometimes old prospects randomly reply weeks later.
