Can fixing internal linking alone improve rankings without backlinks or content updates?

I have a blog with around 60 posts, but I never properly worked on internal linking—just added links randomly here and there.


Last month, I spent 2 days fixing the internal link structure and connecting related pages properly.


After that, a few pages jumped from page 3 to page 1 within weeks.


No new backlinks and no content changes—only internal linking was updated.


Is this normal? Can internal linking alone really cause such ranking improvements, or was it just a coincidence or Google update?

Totally normal Good internal linking redistributes authority, improves crawl paths and helps Google understand topical relationships A strong internal structure can move rankings faster than weak backlinks sometimes.
