Shopify Payments Test Mode - Will customers still be charged? Need help!

I'm a bit confused about Shopify Payments Test Mode and need some clarification.


My question is simple:

If Test Mode is currently active on my Shopify store, will I still be able to receive real payments from customers?

I've read that no real payments are captured in Test Mode, but I'm not 100% sure if that means customers CAN'T complete checkout at all, or if they CAN checkout but I just don't receive the money.


Can anyone clarify this for me?

With Shopify Payments, creating store and setting it up isimple. With test mode on, transactions will seem real but customers will not charged.

No, you won't get any real payments while test mode is turned on. It completely shuts off your live gateway, so if a real customer tries to use their actual credit card, it'll just throw an error or get declined. Their card won't be charged, and you won't get the money.

The checkout only goes through right now if someone intentionally uses Shopify's fake test card numbers.

Btw, What's your niche? What is your current sourcing channel, using aliexpress, cjdropshipping, zendrop or other auto app?

Test Mode means no charge.
